Abstract

A system and method for converting a message via a posting converter is provided. At least one incoming message is received from a composition device. Characteristics of the message are determined. The characteristics include a target device to which the message is directed and an application through which the message will be presented. An appropriate template is selected for the message based on at least one of the message characteristics. The message is converted to a different format using the selected template. The converted message is provided for display on the target device.

Claims

1. A system for converting a message, comprising:

a composition device to transmit at least one incoming message;

a message converter, comprising;

a message receiver to receive the at least one incoming message from the composition device;

a message analyzer to determine characteristics of the message comprising a target device to which the message is directed and an application through which the message will be presented;

a template selector to select an appropriate template for the message based on at least one of the message characteristics; and

a format converter to convert the message to a different format using the selected template and to provide the converted message for display on the target device; and

a processor to execute the message converter.

2. A system according to claim 1, wherein the incoming message comprises at least one of a voice message, text message, wall posting, and Instant Message.

3. A system according to claim 1, wherein the incoming message is received as a voice message and is converted into a text message prior to further converting the message to a different format using the template.

4. A system according to claim 3, wherein the voice message is a voice recording or a real-time voice stream.

5. A system according to claim 1, further comprising:

a message adjuster to adjust the incoming message during the conversion via at least one of substituting word shortcuts, replacing words, including icons, and including emoticons.

6. A method for converting a message, comprising the steps of:

receiving at least one incoming message from a composition device;

determining characteristics of the message comprising a target device to which the message is directed and an application through which the message will be presented;

selecting an appropriate template for the message based on at least one of the message characteristics;

converting the message to a different format using the selected template; and

providing the converted message for display on the target device,

wherein the steps are performed by a suitably-programmed computer.

7. A method according to claim 6, wherein the incoming message comprises at least one of a voice message, text message, wall posting, and Instant Message.

8. A method according to claim 6, further comprising:

receiving the incoming message as a voice message; and

converting the voice message into a text message prior to further converting the message to a different format using the template.

9. A method according to claim 8, wherein the voice message is a voice recording or a real-time voice stream.

10. A method according to claim 6, further comprising:

adjusting the message during the conversion via at least one of substituting word shortcuts, replacing words, including icons, and including emoticons.

11. A system for converting message content, comprising the steps of:

receiving incoming messages via a first application; and

selecting a template for converting at least one of the incoming messages for display using a different application, wherein the different application is associated with guidelines for presentation of the incoming message;

converting content of the incoming message to comply with the presentation guidelines of the different application via the selected template; and

providing the converted message content for presentation via the different application,

wherein the steps are performed by a suitably-programmed computer.

12. A system according to claim 11, further comprising:

adjusting the incoming message during the conversion via at least one of substituting word shortcuts, replacing words, including icons, and including emoticons.

13. A system according to claim 11, wherein the incoming message comprises at least one of a voice message, text message, wall posting, and Instant Message.

14. A system according to claim 11, further comprising:

receiving the incoming message as a voice message; and

converting the voice message into a text message prior to further converting the content of the text message to comply with the presentation guidelines of the different application.

15. A system according to claim 14, wherein the voice message is a voice recording or a real-time voice stream.

16. A method for converting message content, comprising the steps of:

receiving incoming messages via a first application; and

selecting a template for converting at least one of the incoming messages for display using a different application, wherein the different application is associated with guidelines for presentation of the incoming message;

converting content of the incoming message to comply with the presentation guidelines of the different application via the selected template; and

providing the converted message content for presentation via the different application,

wherein the steps are performed by a suitably-programmed computer.

17. A method according to claim 16, further comprising:

adjusting the incoming message during the conversion via at least one of substituting word shortcuts, replacing words, including icons, and including emoticons.

18. A method according to claim 16, wherein the incoming message comprises at least one of a voice message, text message, wall posting, and Instant Message.

19. A method according to claim 16, further comprising:

receiving the incoming message as a voice message; and

converting the voice message into a text message prior to further converting the content of the text message to comply with the presentation guidelines of the different application.

20. A method according to claim 19, wherein the voice message is a voice recording or a real-time voice stream.
