Abstract

A computer-related and/or business type method is presented for embedding one or more media hotspots within a digital media file and, in response to interaction from a separate target entity, such as via an associating request, associating one or more resultant actions with the media hotspot(s). In exchange for associating the one or more resultant actions with the media hotspot(s), an interactive media service entity being affiliated with a web site displaying the digital media file and/or a user being affiliated with the digital media file itself is compensated based upon at least one compensation plan.

29. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

receiving, by an interactive media service entity and over a computer network, a digital media file from a content provider;

associating, in response to a request from a target entity, a resultant action with a media hotspot embedded within the digital media file; and

publishing, using a server affiliated with the interactive media service, the received digital media file, wherein

the interactive media service entity and the content provider are compensated in response to the resultant action being associated with the media hotspot, and

the interactive media service entity, the target entity, and the content provider are all different from one another.

30. The method of claim 29, wherein

the request defines a portion of the digital media file in which the media hotspot is to be embedded.

31. The method of claim 30, wherein

the request defines a temporal portion of the digital media file.

32. The method of claim 29, wherein

the request defines the resultant action associated with the media hotspot.

33. The method of claim 29, wherein

the request defines an area disposed within the digital media file.

34. The method of claim 29, further comprising

executing the resultant action in response to a predetermined event.

35. The method of claim 29, wherein

the interactive media service entity is compensated by the target entity in response to the resultant action being associated with the media hotspot.

36. The method of claim 35, wherein

the content provider is compensated by the target entity in response to the resultant action being associated with the media hotspot.

37. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

receiving, by an interactive media service entity and over a computer network, a digital media file from a content provider;

publishing, using a server affiliated with the interactive media service, the received digital media file, wherein

a resultant action is associated with a media hotspot embedded within the digital media file;

the resultant action is associated with a target entity,

the interactive media service entity is compensated in response to the resultant action being associated with the media hotspot, and

the interactive media service entity and the content provider are all different from one another.

38. The method of claim 37, wherein

a portion of the digital media file is defined in which the media hotspot is to be embedded.

39. The method of claim 37, wherein

a temporal portion of the digital media file is defined for the media hotspot.

40. The method of claim 37, wherein

the content provider defines the resultant action associated with the media hotspot.

41. The method of claim 37, wherein

an area disposed within the digital media file is defined for the media hotspot.

42. The method of claim 37, wherein

the resultant action is executed in response to a predetermined event.

43. The method of claim 37, wherein

the interactive media service entity is compensated by the content provider in response to the resultant action being associated with the media hotspot.
