Abstract

One embodiment of the invention is directed to a system comprising a database and a server computer coupled to the database, wherein the server computer comprises a processor and a computer-readable storage medium coupled to the processor, the computer readable storage medium comprising code executable by the processor for implementing a method comprising: receiving transit transaction data, determining a hotel based on the transit transaction data, and sending the transit transaction data to the hotel, wherein the hotel places a transit charge based on the transit transaction data onto a hotel folio. Another embodiment of the invention is directed to a method, the method comprising receiving transit transaction data, determining a hotel based on the transit transaction data, and sending the transit transaction data to the hotel, wherein the hotel places a transit charge based on the transit transaction data onto a hotel folio

Claims

1. A portable device payment processing system comprising:

a database and

a server computer coupled to the database, wherein the server computer comprises a processor and a computer-readable storage medium coupled to the processor, the computer readable storage medium comprising code executable by the processor for implementing a method comprising;

receiving transaction data;

determining a hotel based on the transaction data; and

sending the transit transaction data to the hotel, wherein the hotel places a charge based on the transaction data onto a hotel folio.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the transaction data includes data received from a payment application.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the payment application is embedded in a portable device.

4. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving an activation request; and

processing the activation request.

5. The system of claim 3, wherein the portable device further contains a hotel room key application.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the hotel room key application interfaces with an access control device to access a hotel room.

7. A method comprising:

receiving transaction data;

determining a hotel based on the transaction data; and

sending the transaction data to the hotel, wherein the hotel places a charge based on the transaction data onto a hotel folio.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising calculating a hotel commission based on the transaction data.

9. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

receiving an activation request; and

processing the activation request.

10. The method of claim 7, wherein the transaction data includes data received from a payment application.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the payment application is embedded in a portable device.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the portable device further contains a hotel room key application.

13. The method of claim 7, wherein the received transaction data is formatted according to the specifications of a first application programming interface.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the transaction data sent to the hotel is formatted according to the specifications of a second application programming interface.

15. The method of claim 7, wherein the transaction data includes a payment application identifier associated with the payment application.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein determining the hotel is based on the payment application identifier.

17. A method comprising:

initiating a data transfer at an access control device, wherein initiating the data transfer causes the access control device to initiate a second validation process, and

performing a calculation wherein the result of the calculation is transmitted to a hotel system, wherein the hotel system places a charge based on the result of the calculation onto a hotel folio.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein data is transferred using a payment application.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the data transfer comprises transferring a unique identifier for the payment application.

20. The method of claim 18, wherein the validation process includes determining whether the payment application is on a blacklist.
