Abstract

A LoWMob (LoWPAN Mobility: Low power Wireless Personal Area Network) system comprises a mobile node, at least one sensor node, a border node and a gateway. The mobile node configured transmits at least one data packet within an MST (Maximum Sleep Time). The mobile node corresponds to an FFD (Full Function Device) or an RFD (Reduced Function Device). The at least one sensor node is configured to be densely to a degree that a transmission range overlaps and configured to be able to measure a moving direction of the mobile node. The boarder node is configured to be arranged at a periphery of the PAN and configured to turn off a transceiver in a quasi-sleep state. The gateway is directly connected with a first least part of the at least one sensor node.

Claims

1. A LoWMob (LoWPAN Mobility:

Low power Wireless Personal Area Network) system, comprising;

a mobile node configured to transmit at least one data packet within an MST (Maximum Sleep Time), the mobile node corresponding to an FFD (Full Function Device) or an RFD (Reduced Function Device) and the mobile node being capable of moving a PAN (Personal Area Network);

at least one sensor node configured to be densely to a degree that a transmission range overlaps and configured to be able to measure a moving direction of the mobile node wherein one of the at least one sensor node operates as an associated sensor node and the associated sensor node measures a distance of the mobile node;

a border node configured to be arranged at a periphery of the PAN and configured to turn off a transceiver in a quasi-sleep state and transmit a beacon in an active state to the mobile node, the beacon including a sensor node address and a PAN identifier; and

a gateway being directly connected with a first least part of the at least one sensor node and corresponding to an intermediate point when the mobile node and/or the at least one sensor node communicate with an external device outside the PAN.

2. The LoWMob system of claim 1, wherein the associated sensor node measures the distance based on an RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication).

3. The LoWMob system of claim 1, wherein a second least part of the at least one sensor node includes an antenna array in order to measure the moving direction of the sensor node.

4. The LoWMob system of claim 3, wherein the antenna array obtains an AoA (Angle of Arrival) of the mobile node.

5. The LoWMob system of claim 1, wherein the mobile node determines whether the mobile node enters a new PAN when the beacon is received, and transmits a join request message to a sensor node directly associated by the mobile node when the mobile node enters the new PAN.

The LoWMob system of claim 1, wherein the associated sensor node activates a next appropriate sensor node based on the moving direction of the mobile node for a handoff procedure when a link quality between the mobile node and the associated sensor node decreases under a predetermined threshold.

7. A DLoWMob (Distributed LoWPAN Mobility:

Distributed Low power Wireless Personal Area Network) system managing a PAN including at least one region, comprising;

a MSP (Mobile Service Point) configured to manage one of the at least one region;

a mobile node configured to transmit at least one data packet within an MST (Maximum Sleep Time), the mobile node corresponding to an FFD (Full Function Device) or an RFD (Reduced Function Device) and the mobile node being capable of moving a PAN (Personal Area Network);

at least one sensor node configured to be densely to a degree that a transmission range overlaps and configured to be able to measure a moving direction of the mobile node wherein the at least one sensor node is associated with the MSP, one of the at least one sensor node operates as an associated sensor node and the associated sensor node measures a distance of the mobile node; and

a gateway being connected with the MSP and corresponding to an intermediate point when the mobile node and/or the at least one sensor node communicate with an external device outside the PAN.

8. The DLoWMob system of claim 7, wherein the MSP manages a binding information between the mobile node and the associated node to reduce LU (Location Update) message sent to the gateway.

9. The DLoWMob system of claim 7, wherein a first MSP managing a first region in the at least one region communicates with a second MSP managing a second region in the at least one region directly or via at least one other MSP.

The DLoWMob system of claim 9, wherein the mobile node transmits the data packet to a MSP in the second region directly or via at least one other MSP when the mobile node in the first region transmits the data packet to an opponent node corresponding to a mobile node, a sensor node or MSP in the second region.

The DLoWMob system of claim 10, wherein the associated sensor node activates a next appropriate sensor node based on the moving direction of the mobile node for a handoff procedure when a link quality between the mobile node and the associated sensor node decreases under a predetermined threshold.

12. The DLoWMob system of claim 11, wherein the associated sensor node transmits a new_node message including an ID of the mobile node to the next appropriate sensor node, and transmits a LU message to a MSP managing the next appropriate sensor node.

13. A LoWMob (LoWPAN Mobility:

Low power Wireless Personal Area Network) system, comprising;

a inner border node and outer border node arranged in the PAN and configured to turn off a transceiver in a quasi-sleep state and transmit a beacon in an active state to the mobile node, the outer node transmitting the beacon more frequently than the inner node;

a mobile node configured to request the outer node or the inner node for an ID of the mobile node when data transmission is not occurred within an MST (Maximum Sleep Time), the mobile node being capable of moving a PAN (Personal Area Network); and

at least one sensor node configured to be densely to a degree that a transmission range overlaps and configured to be able to measure a moving direction of the mobile node wherein one of the at least one sensor node operates as an associated sensor node and the associated sensor node measures a distance of the mobile node.

14. The LoWMob system of claim 13, wherein the mobile node determines whether the mobile node enters a new PAN when the beacon is received, and transmits a join request message to a sensor node directly associated by the mobile node when the mobile node enters the new PAN.

15. The LoWMob system of claim 14, wherein the associated sensor node measures the distance based on an RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication).

16. The LoWMob system of claim 15, wherein the mobile node includes a speed sensor and changes the MST according to a movement speed measured by the speed sensor.

17. The LoWMob system of claim 13, wherein the mobile node switches to a lost connection state when the mobile does not receive the beacon within a predetermined time after requesting the ID of the PAN.

18. The LoWMob system of claim 13, wherein the associated sensor node measures the distance to the mobile node based on an RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication).

19. The LoWMob system of claim 13, wherein the associated sensor node includes an antenna array in order to measure the moving direction of the mobile node.
