Abstract

In embodiments, the present invention provides for a computer-implemented method for mobile coupon placement on a mobile communication facility including the steps of (a) receiving a navigation request from the mobile communication facility operated by a user, wherein the navigation request comprises an action by the user with the mobile communication facility; (b) receiving information corresponding to a rendering capability of the mobile communication facility; (c) selecting a sponsored mobile coupon based at least in part on a relevance between the navigation request, the rendering capability of the mobile communication facility, and a mobile subscriber characteristic, or usage history characteristic, or geographic datum; and (d) transmitting the sponsored mobile coupon to the mobile communication facility for display thereon.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for mobile coupon placement on a mobile communication facility, the method comprising the steps of:

receiving a navigation request from the mobile communication facility operated by a user, wherein the navigation request comprises an action by the user with the mobile communication facility, wherein the navigation request is one of;

a transaction; and

a search request;

receiving information corresponding to a rendering capability of the mobile communication facility;

selecting a sponsored mobile coupon based at least in part on a relevance between the navigation request, the rendering capability of the mobile communication facility, and a mobile subscriber characteristic associated with the user; and

transmitting the sponsored mobile coupon to the mobile communication facility for display thereon.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the rendering capability comprises one or more hardware or software characteristics selected from the list consisting of:

(a) make of mobile communication facility;

(b) model of mobile communication facility;

(c) operating system of the mobile communication facility;

(d) operating system version of the mobile communication facility;

(e) MIDP support;

(f) polyphonic ringtone support;

(g) ringtone support;

(h) video download support;

(i) video streaming support;

(j) WAP push support;

(k) WML support;

(l) wallpaper support;

(m) XHTML support;

(n) touch screen support;

(o) a display resolution;

(p) a screen size;

(q) processor type of the mobile communication facility;

(r) processing speed of the mobile communication facility;

(s) storage capability of the mobile communication facility; and

(t) memory capacity of the mobile communication facility.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the mobile subscriber characteristic is selected from the list consisting of:

(a) age, age-range, or birthdate of the user;

(b) gender of the user;

(c) race of the user;

(d) religion of the user;

(e) marital status of the user;

(f) area code of the phone number assigned to the mobile communication facility;

(g) zip code of the user;

(h) home address of the user;

(i) work address of the user;

(j) billing address of the user;

(k) type of credit card the user uses to pay for service for the mobile communication facility;

(l) birthplace of the user;

(m) employer of the user;

(n) employment position of the user; and

(o) income bracket of the user.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the transaction is selected from the list consisting of:

(a) a purchase of one or more items;

(b) an advertisement conversion;

(c) a coupon redemption;

(d) a transfer of funds from a bank account;

(e) a placement of a purchasable item into an online shopping cart;

(f) a completion of an enrollment; and

(g) a completion of a survey.

5. A computer-implemented method for mobile coupon placement on a mobile communication facility, the method comprising the steps of:

receiving a navigation request from the mobile communication facility operated by a user, wherein the navigation request comprises an action by the user with the mobile communication facility, wherein the navigation request is one of;

a transaction; and

a search request;

receiving information corresponding to a rendering capability of the mobile communication facility;

selecting a sponsored mobile coupon based at least in part on a relevance between the navigation request, the rendering capability of the mobile communication facility, and a usage history characteristic associated with the user; and

transmitting the sponsored mobile coupon to the mobile communication facility for display thereon.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the rendering capability comprises one or more hardware or software characteristics selected from the list consisting of:

(a) make of mobile communication facility;

(b) model of mobile communication facility;

(c) operating system of the mobile communication facility;

(d) operating system version of the mobile communication facility;

(e) MIDP support;

(f) polyphonic ringtone support;

(g) ringtone support;

(h) video download support;

(i) video streaming support;

(j) WAP push support;

(k) WML support;

(l) wallpaper support;

(m) XHTML support;

(n) touch screen support;

(o) a display resolution;

(p) a screen size;

(q) processor type of the mobile communication facility;

(r) processing speed of the mobile communication facility;

(s) storage capability of the mobile communication facility; and

(t) memory capacity of the mobile communication facility.

7. The method of claim 5, wherein the usage history characteristic selected from the list consisting of:

(a) shopping habits of the user as recorded through use of the mobile communication facility;

(b) payment and billing history associated with the user of the mobile communication facility;

(c) duration of on-line interactions by the user from using the mobile communication facility;

(d) number of on-line interactions of the user via the mobile communication facility;

(e) usage patterns of the mobile communication facility dependent on location or time of day of use thereof;

(f) type of content accessed by the user via the mobile communication facility;

(g) previous search queries entered by the user via the mobile communication facility; and

(h) websites visited.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein the transaction is selected from the list consisting of:

(a) a purchase of one or more items;

(b) an advertisement conversion;

(c) a coupon redemption;

(d) a transfer of funds from a bank account;

(e) a placement of a purchasable item into an online shopping cart;

(f) a completion of an enrollment; and

(g) a completion of a survey.

9. A computer-implemented method for mobile coupon placement on a mobile communication facility, the method comprising the steps of:

receiving a navigation request from the mobile communication facility operated by a user, wherein the navigation request comprises an action by the user with the mobile communication facility, wherein the navigation request is one of;

a transaction; and

a search request;

receiving information corresponding to a rendering capability of the mobile communication facility;

selecting a sponsored mobile coupon based at least in part on a relevance between the navigation request, the rendering capability of the mobile communication facility, and a geographic datum; and

transmitting the sponsored mobile coupon to the mobile communication facility for display thereon.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the rendering capability comprises one or more hardware or software characteristics selected from the list consisting of:

(a) make of mobile communication facility;

(b) model of mobile communication facility;

(c) operating system of the mobile communication facility;

(d) operating system version of the mobile communication facility;

(e) MIDP support;

(f) polyphonic ringtone support;

(g) ringtone support;

(h) video download support;

(i) video streaming support;

(j) WAP push support;

(k) WML support;

(l) wallpaper support;

(m) XHTML support;

(n) touch screen support;

(o) a display resolution;

(p) a screen size;

(q) processor type of the mobile communication facility;

(r) processing speed of the mobile communication facility;

(s) storage capability of the mobile communication facility; and

(t) memory capacity of the mobile communication facility.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the geographic datum is representative of a previous location, a current location, and an expected location of the mobile communication facility as determined by one of GPS and triangulation.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the one of the previous location, the current location, and the expected location is a geographic region defined as one or more states or one or more cities.

13. The method of claim 10, wherein the geographic datum is a distance from a predetermined location.

14. The method of claim 10, wherein the transaction is selected from the list consisting of:

(a) a purchase of one or more items;

(b) an advertisement conversion;

(c) a coupon redemption;

(d) a transfer of funds from a bank account;

(e) a placement of a purchasable item into an online shopping cart;

(f) a completion of an enrollment; and

(g) a completion of a survey.
