Abstract

A method for requesting and creating a personalized message by selecting a song clip, entering a recipient'"'"'s phone number, and recording a personalized message, which is then sent to the identified recipient at a scheduled date and time by phone. The personalized message can be received by a recipient who answers the phone, or can be recorded by the recipient'"'"'s voicemail system.

Claims

1. A method of providing an messaging system for selection and delivery of a personalized message to be sent to an intended recipient, the method comprising:

providing an interface for the creation of a user profile;

registering the user profile by associating the user profile with a user;

providing a searchable song clip database to the user;

directing the user to select a song clip from the searchable song clip database to create a personalized message for an intended recipient;

directing the user to enter a phone number of the intended recipient;

directing the user to schedule a date and time that the personalized message is to be delivered to the recipient;

providing the recipient with a unique message code that is associated with the personalized message; and

delivering the personalized message to the intended recipient.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the searchable song clip database can be searched by song title, identified occasion, or identified genre.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising the act of directing the user to record an additional sound recording and appending the additional sound recording to the personalized message.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the additional sound recording is a voice recording of the user.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein before the personalized message is delivered to the intended recipient, the intended recipient is prompted to enter the user'"'"'s unique message code into the messaging system.

6. A computer-readable storage medium storing computer-executable instructions for causing a computer to perform a method of providing a personalized message to an intended recipient, the method comprising:

providing a searchable song clip database to the user;

directing the user to select a song clip from the searchable song clip database to create a personalized message for an intended recipient;

directing the user to enter a phone number, screen name, or other identifier designating contact information for the intended recipient;

directing the user to schedule a date and time that the personalized message is to be delivered to the recipient; and

delivering the personalized message to the intended recipient at the identifier that designates contact information of the intended recipient.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

providing an interface for the creation of a user profile;

registering the user profile by associating the user profile with a user; and

providing the user with a unique message code that is associated with the personalized message, the unique message code being configured to allow the user to record the personalized message.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein the method is performed using an application on a mobile phone.

9. The method of claim 6, wherein the method is performed using an application within a social networking service.

10. The method of claim 6, wherein the searchable song clip database can be searched by song title, identified occasion, or identified genre.

11. The method of claim 6, further comprising the act of directing the user to record an additional sound recording and appending the additional sound recording to the personalized message.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the additional sound recording is a voice recording of the user.

13. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

prompting the intended recipient to enter a message retrieval code into the messaging system to obtain access to the personalized message.
