Abstract

Information relevant to internet security is received at a data center server. Such information, for example, a network intrusion alert or details on a recent outbreak of an network virus, may be examined to determine the nature and scope of the security-related information. A security alert is promptly generated in response to the information, using previously stored multimedia content divided into categories of security alerts and/or multimedia content generated at the data center shortly after receiving the security information. The security alert is then disseminated to a plurality of mobile device users. The alerts may be disseminated only to the users associated with a certain security event category, or may be sent to different groups of users depending on other relevant criteria.

Claims

1. A system for providing security alerts to at least one mobile device, the system comprising:

a security message delivery router;

a database in communication with the security message delivery router including a plurality of prerecorded multimedia messages, wherein each prerecorded multimedia message corresponds to a security alert category;

a mobile device in communication with the delivery router;

wherein the security message delivery router receives security data indicative of a category of security alert;

matches the received security data to at least one prerecorded multimedia message in the database;

customizes the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message by supplementing the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message with additional content describing the received security data, the additional content including a security level and a scope of affected systems;

associates the received security data with the mobile device; and

delivers the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message to the mobile device.

2. The system in claim 1, wherein the received security data includes a video stream.

3. The system in claim 2, wherein the security message delivery router integrates the relevant portion of the video stream of the received security data into the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message.

4. The system in claim 1, wherein the received security data comprises an audio stream.

5. The system in claim 4, wherein the security message delivery router integrates a relevant portion of the audio stream of the received security data into the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message.

6. The system in claim 1, wherein the security message delivery router delivers the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message to each identified mobile device address asynchronously.

7. The system in claim 1, wherein the security message delivery router delivers the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message to each identified mobile device address in accordance with the MMS network protocol.

8. A system for providing security alerts to at least one mobile device, the system comprising:

a security message delivery router which receives security data indicative of a category of security alert;

matches the received security data to at least one prerecorded multimedia message in a database, the database including a plurality of prerecorded multimedia messages, wherein each prerecorded multimedia message corresponds to a security alert category;

customizes the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message by supplementing the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message with additional content describing the received security data, the additional content including a security level and a scope of affected systems;

associates the received security data with a mobile device in communication with the security message delivery router; and

delivers the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message to the mobile device.

9. The system in claim 8, wherein the received security data includes a video stream.

10. The system in claim 9, wherein the security message delivery router integrates the relevant portion of the video stream of the received security data into the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message.

11. The system in claim 8, wherein the received security data comprises an audio stream.

12. The system in claim 11, wherein the security message delivery router integrates a relevant portion of the audio stream of the received security data into the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message.

13. The system in claim 8, wherein the security message delivery router delivers the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message to each identified mobile device address asynchronously.

14. The system in claim 8, wherein the security message delivery router delivers the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message to each identified mobile device address in accordance with the MMS network protocol.

15. A method for providing security alerts to at least one mobile device, the system comprising:

receiving security data indicative of a category of security alert at a security message delivery router;

matching the received security data to at least one prerecorded multimedia message in a database, the database including a plurality of prerecorded multimedia messages, wherein each prerecorded multimedia message corresponds to a security alert category;

customizing the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message by supplementing the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message with additional content describing the received security data, the additional content including a security level and a scope of affected systems;

associating the received security data with a mobile device in communication with the security message delivery router; and

delivering the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message to the mobile device.

16. The method in claim 15, further comprising integrating a relevant portion of a video stream of the received security data into the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message.

17. The method in claim 15, further comprising integrating a relevant portion of an audio stream of the received security data into the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message.

18. The method in claim 15, further comprising receiving an acknowledgement from the mobile device indicating successful delivery of the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message.

19. The method in claim 15, wherein the delivery of the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message to each identified mobile device address is done asynchronously.

20. The system in claim 15, wherein the delivery of the at least one matching prerecorded multimedia message to each identified mobile device address is done in accordance with the MMS network protocol.
