1. An apparatus for treating reflux disease in a human or animal mammal patient, the apparatus comprising an implantable movement restriction device having an outer surface with an elongated shape adapted to be at least partly be invaginated by a stomach wall portion of a patient, said device having, when implanted in a patient, a proximal part and a distal part;

  • wherein said movement restriction device is adapted to rest at least partially with the outer surface of its proximal part against the patient'"'"'s stomach fundus wall, in a position between the patient'"'"'s diaphragm and the fundus wall, such that movement of the cardiac notch of the patient'"'"'s stomach towards the patient'"'"'s diaphragm is restricted, when the movement restriction device is implanted in the patient, to thereby prevent the cardia from sliding through the patient'"'"'s diaphragm opening into the patient'"'"'s thorax, so as to maintain the supporting pressure against the patient'"'"'s cardia sphincter muscle exerted from the patient'"'"'s abdomen; and

    wherein the distal part of said movement restriction device stabilizes and holds the proximal part, said distal part being adapted to be substantially invaginated in the stomach wall.
