Abstract

A computer-implemented method for interacting with a file stored on a computing device that includes a display. The method includes causing a first user interface element to be displayed; receiving user input; determining that the user input is received for a duration of time greater than a threshold value; and, in response to determining, causing a first full tab to be displayed on a first side of the first user interface element, where the first full tab is associated with a first function for manipulating the file.

Claims

1. A method for interacting with a file stored on a computing device that includes a display, the method comprising:

causing a first user interface element to be displayed on the display;

receiving user input;

determining that the user input is received for a duration of time greater than a threshold value; and

in response to determining, causing a first full tab to be displayed on a first side of the first user interface element, wherein the first full tab is associated with a first function for manipulating the file stored on the computing device.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising causing a second full tab to be displayed on a second side of the first user interface element, wherein the second full tab is associated with a second function for manipulating the file stored on the computing device.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising causing a first partial tab to be displayed on the first side of the first user interface element.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the first full tab replaces the first partial tab when the user input is received for a duration of time greater than the threshold value.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the first side of the first user interface element comprises the left side of the first user interface element, and the second side of the first user interface element comprises the right side of the first user interface element.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the first side of the first user interface element comprises the top side of the first user interface element, and the second side of the first user interface element comprises the bottom side of the first user interface element.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the first function is executed when the user selects the first full tab, and the second function is executed when the user selects the second full tab.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the first function comprises at least one of a delete function, a make favorite function, a modify contrast function, and a modify brightness function.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the file comprises a video file, and the first user interface element is associated with the video file.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the first user interface element is associated with a folder associated with one or more video files stored on the computing device.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the user input comprises a selection of the first user interface element via at least one of a touch-sensitive button or screen, a mechanical button, and a cursor.

12. A computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause a computing device to interact with a file, by performing the steps of:

causing a first user interface element to be displayed on the display;

receiving user input;

determining that the user input is received for a duration of time greater than a threshold value; and

in response to determining, causing a first full tab to be displayed on a first side of the first user interface element, wherein the first full tab is associated with a first function for manipulating the file stored on the computing device.

13. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, further comprising causing a second full tab to be displayed on a second side of the first user interface element, wherein the second full tab is associated with a second function for manipulating the file stored on the computing device.

14. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, further comprising causing a first partial tab to be displayed on the first side of the first user interface element.

15. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 14, wherein the first full tab replaces the first partial tab when the user input is received for a duration of time greater than the threshold value.

16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the first side of the first user interface element comprises the left side of the first user interface element, and the second side of the first user interface element comprises the right side of the first user interface element.

17. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the first side of the first user interface element comprises the top side of the first user interface element, and the second side of the first user interface element comprises the bottom side of the first user interface element.

18. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the first function is executed when the user selects the first full tab, and the second function is executed when the user selects the second full tab.

19. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 18, wherein the first function comprises at least one of a delete function, a make favorite function, a modify contrast function, and a modify brightness function.

20. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the file comprises a video file, and the first user interface element is associated with the video file.

21. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the first user interface element is associated with a folder associated with one or more video files stored on the computing device.

22. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the user input comprises a selection of the first user interface element via at least one of a touch-sensitive button or screen, a mechanical button, and a cursor.

23. A computer system, comprising:

a processor; and

a memory storing instructions that when executed by the processor cause the computer system to interact with a file, by performing the steps of;

causing a first user interface element to be displayed on a display,

receiving user input,

determining that the user input is received for a duration of time greater than a threshold value, and

in response to determining, causing a first full tab to be displayed on a first side of the first user interface element, wherein the first full tab is associated with a first function for manipulating the file stored on the computing device.

24. The computer system of claim 23, further comprising causing a second full tab to be displayed on a second side of the first user interface element, wherein the second full tab is associated with a second function for manipulating the file stored on the computing device.

25. The computer system of claim 23, further comprising causing a first partial tab to be displayed on the first side of the first user interface element.

26. The computer system of claim 25, wherein the first full tab replaces the first partial tab when the user input is received for a duration of time greater than the threshold value.
