- accessing at least one piece of demographic information associated with a user of a portable device comprising a display, a non-volatile memory, a processing device operable to execute instructions stored in the non-volatile memory, a portion of instructions saved locally at the portable device and configured to facilitate accessing of a network based resource, and at least one wireless transceiver;
selecting an advertisement to be delivered to the user based at least in part on the at least one piece of demographic information; and
initiating communication of a version of the advertisement that is configured for presentation at the portable device.
