Abstract

A tool or computer-readable medium for interfacing with an infusion pump includes i) computer-readable code for generating a drug library, generating a run profile, or a combination thereof, and ii) computer-readable code for configuring the infusion pump.

Claims

1. A computer-readable medium for storing a computer program for interfacing with an infusion pump, the computer-readable medium comprising:

computer-readable code for generating a drug library, generating a run profile, or combinations thereof; and

computer-readable code for configuring the infusion pump.

2. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 1, further comprising computer-readable code for configuring the computer-readable medium for a user.

3. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 2 wherein the computer-readable code for configuring the computer-readable medium for the user includes:

computer-readable code for creating at least one user profile; and

computer-readable code for grouping the at least one user profile into at least one category.

4. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 3 wherein the computer-readable code for configuring the computer-readable medium for the user further includes authorizing the user.

5. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 1 wherein the computer-readable code for generating the drug library includes:

computer-readable code for at least one of;

selecting or creating a care area;

selecting or creating a drug;

entering a concentration of the drug;

or selecting a delivery mode;

computer-readable code for inputting at least one infusion parameter; and

computer-readable code for generating a report including i) the selected at least one of the care area, the drug, the concentration of the drug, and the delivery mode, and ii) the inputted at least one infusion parameter.

6. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 5 wherein the computer-readable code for generating the drug library further includes computer-readable code for publishing the drug library.

7. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 6, further comprising computer-readable code for generating an other drug library, wherein the computer-readable code for generating the other drug library includes:

computer-readable code for editing the drug library by editing at least one of the care area, the drug, the concentration of the drug, the delivery mode, or the at least one infusion parameter; and

computer-readable code for publishing the edited drug library, thereby generating the other drug library.

8. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 1 wherein the computer-readable code for generating the run profile includes:

computer-readable code for entering at least one of a patient identification, a delivery mode, a care area, a drug name, or a version of the drug library; and

computer-readable code for generating a machine-readable label.

9. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 8 wherein the computer-readable code for generating the run profile includes computer-readable code for entering at least one infusion parameter.

10. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 1 wherein the computer-readable code for configuring the infusion pump includes computer-readable code for entering:

at least one infusion parameter;

an identification of the patient;

a delivery mode;

a power-saving configuration;

or combinations thereof.

11. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 10 wherein the computer-readable code for entering includes at least one of:

computer-readable code for manually inputting the at least one infusion parameter, the identification of the patient, the delivery mode, the power-saving configuration;

or the combinations thereof;

computer-readable code for reading, from default settings of the infusion pump, the at least one infusion parameter, the identification of the patient, the delivery mode, the power-saving configuration;

or the combinations thereof;

computer-readable code for reading, from the infusion pump, the at least one infusion parameter, the identification of the patient, the delivery mode, the power-saving configuration;

or the combinations thereof;

or

computer-readable code for reading, from a file saved on a computer device running the computer-readable medium, the at least one infusion parameter, then identification of the patient, the delivery mode, the power-saving configuration;

or the combinations thereof.

The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 10 wherein the computer-readable code for configuring the infusion pump further includes computer-readable code for writing, to the infusion pump, the at least one infusion parameter, the delivery mode, the power-saving configuration, or the combinations thereof.

13. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 10 wherein the computer-readable code for configuring the infusion pump further includes:

computer-readable code for requesting, from the infusion pump, a report including at least one operating parameter of the infusion pump during an infusion; and

computer-readable code for commanding the infusion pump to perform functions suitable to operate the infusion pump.

The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 10 wherein the computer-readable code for configuring the infusion pump further includes computer-readable code for updating the computer-readable medium downloaded to the infusion pump, from a motor controller, from a main controller, or combinations thereof.

The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 10 wherein the computer-readable code for configuring the infusion pump further includes compute-readable code for generating at least one of i) a general log including data related to an operation of the infusion pump, ii) a PCA log including data related to a PCA delivery of a drug using the infusion pump, iii) an alarm log including data related an alarm condition of the infusion pump, or iv) a patient information log including data related to the patient.

16. The computer-readable medium as defined in claim 10 wherein the computer-readable code for configuring the infusion pump further includes computer-readable code for periodically checking at least one of:

an operation state of the infusion pump;

an operation state of components associated with the infusion pump;

or maintenance of the infusion pump.
