Abstract

A method comprising: performing on a processor, evaluating log data; determining at least one discrepancy between the log data and a system model; generating a candidate model based on the discrepancy and a model template; and updating the system model based on the candidate model.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

performing on a processor,

evaluating log data;

determining at least one discrepancy between the log data and a system model;

generating a candidate model based on the discrepancy and a model template; and

updating the system model based on the candidate model.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising evaluating the candidate model for a goodness of fit based on the model template.

3. The method of claim 2 further comprising running the candidate model to determine the goodness of fit.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the template includes a set of rules for updating a model given the discrepancy and a computerized agent for executing the rules.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the template includes model generation implementation logic.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the template includes goodness of fit measurement logic.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein the template includes confidence of goodness of fit measurement logic.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the template includes decision threshold definitions.

9. A system comprising:

a storage medium comprising;

a model generation module that generates a candidate model based on a discrepancy and a model template; and

a model evaluation module that selectively updates a system model based on the candidate model.

10. The system of claim 9 further comprising a monitoring module that evaluates log data and that determines at least one discrepancy between the log data and the system model.

11. The system of claim 9 further comprising a templates datastore that stores a plurality of model templates, and wherein the model generation module selects the model template from templates datastore.

12. The system of claim 9 wherein the template includes a set of rules for updating a model given the discrepancy and a computerized agent for executing the rules.

13. The system of claim 9 wherein the template includes at least one of model generation implementation logic, goodness of fit measurement logic, confidence of goodness of fit measurement logic, and decision threshold definitions.

14. A computer program product for updating a model, the computer program product comprising:

a computer-readable storage medium that stores instructions for updating a model, the updating the model includes;

evaluating log data;

determining at least one discrepancy between the log data and a system model;

generating a candidate model based on the discrepancy and a model template; and

updating the system model based on the candidate model.

15. The computer program product of claim 14 further comprising evaluating the candidate model for a goodness of fit based on the model template.

16. The computer program product of claim 15 further comprising running the candidate model to determine the goodness of fit.

17. The computer program product of claim 14 wherein the template includes a set of rules for updating a model given the discrepancy and a computerized agent for executing the rules.

18. The computer program product of claim 14 wherein the template includes at least one of model generation implementation logic, goodness of fit measurement logic, confidence of goodness of fit measurement logic, and decision threshold definitions.
