Abstract

Disclosed herein is a method for reducing the rate of degradation of proteins in an animal, comprising contacting cells of the animal with certain boronic ester and acid compounds. Also disclosed herein are novel boronic ester and acid compounds, their synthesis and uses.

9. A pharmaceutical composition, comprising a compound of claim 1, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, in an amount effective to inhibit proteasome function in a mammal, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent.

10. A method for inhibiting the growth of a cancer cell, comprising contacting the cell with a compound of claim 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

11. A method for treating a cell proliferative disease in a patient in need of such treatment, comprising administering to the patient a compound of claim 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the cell proliferative disease is selected from the group consisting of cancer, psoriasis, and restenosis.
