Abstract

Methods, devices, and systems for information selection in a wireless communication system is provided. In one embodiment, a method of information selection in a wireless communication system comprises receiving a selection request signal by a propagator node, wherein said selection request signal identifies information requested by a selector node; determining all or a portion of said selection request signal matches all or a portion of an information tag stored in an information cache of said propagator node, wherein said information tag is associated with an information datagram; and forwarding said information datagram from said propagator node to said selector node, wherein said information datagram contains all or a portion of said information.

Claims

1. A method of information selection in a wireless communication system, comprising:

receiving a selection request signal by a propagator node, wherein said selection request signal identifies information requested by a selector node;

determining all or a portion of said selection request signal matches all or a portion of an information tag stored in an information cache of said propagator node, wherein said information tag is associated with an information datagram; and

forwarding said information datagram from said propagator node to said selector node, wherein said information datagram contains all or a portion of said information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said receiving a selection request signal by a propagator node includes:

receiving said selection request signal over a neighbor interface module of said propagator node, wherein said neighbor interface module is directly or indirectly associated with said selector node; and

wherein said forwarding said information datagram from said propagator node to said selector node includes;

forwarding said information datagram over said neighbor interface module.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

discarding, removing, or overwriting said selection request signal.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein said selection request signal includes a selector tag.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein said selection request signal is a persistent selection request signal.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein said selection request signal includes an unqualified information object identifier.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein said selection request signal includes a qualified information object identifier.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein said selection request signal, said information datagram, or both includes a session initiation protocol (“

SIP”

) signaling message.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein said selection request signal, said information datagram, or both includes a hypertext transfer protocol (“

HTTP”

) signaling messages.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein said selection request signal is cryptographically signed.

11. A method of information selection in a wireless communication system, comprising:

receiving a selection request signal by a propagator node, wherein said selection request signal identifies information requested by a selector node;

determining all or a portion of said selection request signal matches all or a portion of a selection tag stored in a selection routing table; and

storing all or a portion of said selection request signal by said propagator node in said selection routing table.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein said receiving a selection request signal by a propagator node includes:

receiving said selection request signal over a neighbor interface module of said propagator node, wherein said neighbor interface module is directly or indirectly associated with said selector node; and

wherein said storing all or a portion of said selection request signal by said propagator node in said selection routing table includes;

storing all or a portion of said selection request signal, an identifier of said neighbor interface module, or any combination thereof in said selection routing table.

13. A method of information selection in a wireless communication system, comprising:

receiving a selection request signal by a propagator node, wherein said selection request signal identifies information requested by a selector node;

determining all or a portion of said selection request signal matches all or a portion of a distributor tag stored in a distributor routing table of said propagator node, wherein said distributor tag is associated with a distributor node; and

forwarding all or a portion of said selection request signal from said propagator node to said distributor node.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein said forwarding all or a portion of said selection request signal from said propagator node to said distributor node includes:

forwarding all or a portion of said selection request signal over a neighbor interface module of said propagator node, wherein said neighbor interface module is directly or indirectly associated with said distributor node.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein said determining all or a portion of said selection request signal matches all or a portion of a distributor tag stored in a distributor routing table of said propagator node includes:

determining all or a portion of said selection request signal matches all or a portion of a plurality of distributor tags stored in said distributor routing table; and

selecting a distributor node having the best forwarding metric.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein said best forwarding metric is the link speed, link utilization, link throughput, number of hops, load, path latency, path delay, path reliability, path bandwidth, path throughput, packet loss rate, interference level, cost metric, or any combination thereof.

17. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

storing said selection request signal by said propagator node in a selection routing table.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein said storing said selection request signal by said propagator node in a selection routing table includes:

discarding, removing, or overwriting said information selection signal from said selection routing table after the expiration of a timer.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein said storing said selection request signal by said propagator node in a selection routing table includes:

determining said information selection signal is stored in said selection routing table; and

resetting a timer, wherein said timer is used to discard, remove, or overwrite said information selection signal from said selection routing table.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein said storing said selection request signal by said propagator node in a selection routing table includes:

determining said information selection signal indicates the cancellation of said information selection signal stored in said selection routing table; and

discarding, removing, or overwriting said information selection signal from said selection routing table.

21. A method of information selection in a wireless communication system, comprising:

receiving an information datagram by a propagator node, wherein said information datagram includes an information tag;

determining all or a portion of said information tag matches all or a portion of a selection tag stored in a selection routing table of said propagator node, wherein said selection tag is associated with a selector node; and

forwarding said information datagram from said propagator node to said selector node.

22. The method of claim 21, further comprising:

determining all or a portion of said information tag matches all or a portion of one or more selection tags stored in said selection routing table of said propagator node, wherein each of said selection tags is associated with a selector node; and

forwarding said information datagram from said propagator node to one or more of said matched selector nodes.

23. The method of claim 21 further comprising:

determining said selection tag stored in said selection routing table of said propagator node is not a persistent selection request signal; and

discarding, removing, or overwriting said information selection signal from said selection routing table.

24. A device acting as a propagator node for information selection in a wireless communication system, comprising:

a neighbor interface module to receive a selection request signal from a selector node, wherein said selection request signal identifies information requested by a selector node; and

a controller coupled to said neighbor interface module, wherein said controller is capable to;

determine all or a portion of said selection request signal matches all or a portion of an information tag stored in an information cache of said propagator node, wherein said information tag is associated with an information datagram; and

forward said information datagram from said propagator node to said selector node, wherein said information datagram contains all or a portion of said information.

25. A computer program product for information selection in a wireless communication system, comprising:

a computer-readable medium comprising;

a first set of codes for receiving a selection request signal by a propagator node, wherein said selection request signal identifies information requested by a selector node;

a second set of codes for determining all or a portion of said selection request signal matches all or a portion of an information tag stored in an information cache of said propagator node, wherein said information tag is associated with an information datagram; and

a third set of codes for forwarding said information datagram from said propagator node to said selector node, wherein said information datagram contains all or a portion of said information.

26. A data structure used for information selection in a wireless communication system, comprising:

a header field containing a selector tag, wherein said selector tag operates as a means to identify information requested by a selector node.

27. A system for information distribution in a wireless communication system, comprising:

a selector node;

a propagator node connected to said selector node;

wherein said selector node sends a selection request signal, wherein said selection request signal identifies information requested by said selector node; and

wherein said propagator node receives said selection request signal, determines all or a portion of said selection request signal matches all or a portion of an information tag stored in an information cache of said propagator node wherein said information tag is associated with an information datagram, and forwards said information datagram from said propagator node to said selector node wherein said information datagram contains all or a portion of said information.
