Abstract

An article, device and method may detect a touch of a human hand on an interactive area of a user interface display of a mobile device. A non-interactive area may be displayed on the user interface display in at least a location of the touch of the human hand.

Claims

1. An article comprising a machine-readable storage medium containing instructions that when executed enable a system to:

detect a touch of a human hand on an interactive area of a user interface display of a mobile device; and

display a non-interactive area on the user interface display in at least a location of the touch of the human hand.

2. The article of claim 1 wherein said instructions that when executed enable a system to detect a touch of a human hand comprise instructions that when executed enable a system to determine a lack of motion of the human hand on the interactive area of the user interface display.

3. The article of claim 1 wherein said instructions that when executed enable a system to detect a touch of a human hand comprise instructions that when executed enable a system to determine coordinates for a location of the human hand on the interactive area of the user interface display.

4. The article of claim 1 wherein said instructions that when executed enable a system to detect a touch of a human hand comprise instructions that when executed enable a system to determine one or more of a capacitive touch and a resistive touch.

5. The article of claim 1, further comprising instructions that when executed enable a system to:

detect that the touch of the human hand is no longer on the non-interactive area of the user interface display; and

remove the non-interactive area.

6. The article of claim 5 wherein said instructions that when executed enable a system to remove the non-interactive area comprise instructions that when executed enable a system to extend the interactive area of the user interface display to an edge of a screen on the device.

7. The article of claim 1, further comprising instructions that when executed enable a system to:

detect a second touch of a second human hand on the interactive area of the user interface display of the mobile device; and

display a second non-interactive area on the user interface display in at least a second location of the second touch.

The article of claim 1, wherein said instructions that when executed enable a system to display a non-interactive area comprise instructions that when executed enable a system to display the interactive area of the user interface display in a first color and the non-interactive area in a second color.

9. The article of claim 1 wherein said instructions that when executed enable a system to display a non-interactive area comprise instructions that when executed enable a system to determine that the human hand remained in the location for at least a period of time.

10. The article of claim 1 wherein the non-interactive area comprises a virtual bezel.

11. A mobile device comprising:

a screen;

a user interface module to display a user interface display on the screen; and

a sensor to detect a touch of a human hand on the user interface display, the user interface module to display a non-interactive area on the user interface display under at least a portion of the human hand.

12. The device of claim 11 wherein the non-interactive area comprises a virtual bezel.

13. The device of claim 11 wherein the interactive area of the user interface display comprises a first color and the non-interactive area comprises a second color.

14. The device of claim 11, the sensor to detect coordinates for a location of the human hand.

15. A method comprising:

detecting a location of a touch of a human hand on an interactive area of a user interface display of a mobile device;

determining that the human hand is holding the device at the location; and

reducing the interactive area of the user interface display based on the location.

16. The method of claim 15, comprising dynamically displaying a non-interactive virtual bezel in at least the location.

17. The method of claim 15 wherein determining that the human hand is holding the device at the location comprises determining that the human hand remained in the location for at least a period of time.

18. The method of claim 15 wherein detecting a location of a human hand on a user interface display of a mobile device comprises determining one or more of a capacitive touch and a resistive touch.

19. The method of claim 15, further comprising:

detecting that the human hand is not on the user interface display; and

extending the interactive area of the user interface display to cover a screen of the mobile device.

20. The method of claim 16 wherein a display of the virtual bezel comprises a different color than the display of the interactive area of the user interface display.

21. The method of claim 15, further comprising:

detecting a second location of a second touch of a second human hand on the interactive area of the user interface display of the mobile device; and

reducing the interactive area of the user interface display based on the second location.
