Abstract

Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for exchanging and processing tag information between users with different types of communications devices. In operation, tag information is received processed to provide an alternative tag communication to selected participants in the media event. That is, at least a portion of the tags of a media event are used to create an alternate tag communication that can be delivered to participants, together with or separate from the conventional or default tag communication associated with the media event. The alternate tag communications can be used to allow participation of users associated with communications devices incompatible with the media format of default tag communication. Further, the alternate tag information can also be used as a secondary means of communications during a media event.

Claims

1. A method of presenting tags associated with a media event at a plurality of communications devices, the method comprising:

obtaining, via a processor, a first tag communication of a first media type, the first tag communication comprising a first plurality of tags associated with a media event being presented at one or more communications devices;

identifying a portion of the communications devices incompatible with the first tag communication to yield identified communications devices;

generating a second tag communication of a second media type different from the first media type and compatible with the identified communications devices, the second tag communication comprising a second plurality of tags based on the first plurality of tags; and

delivering the second tag communication to the identified communications devices.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein generating at least one second tag communication of a second media type further comprises selecting each of the second plurality of tags to comprise a content of at least one of the first plurality of tags.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein generating at least one second tag communication of a second media type further comprises:

determining device permissions for each of the identified communications devices; and

assembling the second tag communication for each of the identified communications devices based on the device permissions.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein assembling the second tag communication comprises constructing the second plurality of tags based on a subset of the first plurality of tags, wherein the subset is selected based on user permissions.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the second media type comprises an audible media type.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving tag instructions from the identified communications devices in the second media type; and

assembling an updated first tag communication based on the tag instructions; and

repeating generating and delivering based on the updated first tag communication.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the tag instructions comprise audible tag instructions.

8. The method claim 7, wherein the audible tag instructions are inaudible by at least a portion of the one or more communications devices.

9. A system for presenting tags associated with a media event at a plurality of communications devices, the system comprising:

at least one processor;

a first module configured to control the processor to obtain a first tag communication of a first media type, the first tag communication comprising a first plurality of tags associated with a media event being presented at one or more communications devices;

a second module configured to control the processor to obtain a second tag communication of a second media type, the second tag communication comprising a second plurality of tags based on the first plurality of tags;

a third module configured to control the processor to identify communications devices to receive the second tag communication to yield identified communications devices; and

a fourth module configured to control the processor to deliver the second tag communication to the identified communications devices.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the second module is further configured to control the processor to select each of the second plurality of tags to comprise a content of at least one of the first plurality of tags.

11. The system of claim 9, wherein the third module is further configured to control the processor to determine the identified communications devices based on a device authentication.

12. The system of claim 9, wherein the second media type comprises an audible media type.

13. The system of claim 9, further comprising a fifth module configured to control the processor to receive tag instructions from the identified communications devices, assemble an updated first tag communication based on the tag instruction, and to cause the second, third, and fourth modules to control the processor to repeat generation and delivery of the second tag communication based on the updated first tag communication.

14. The system of claim 9, wherein the second module is further configured to control the processor to identify a portion of the first plurality of tags associated with at least one event and generating the second tag communication based on the identified portion of the first plurality of tags.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed by a computing device, cause the computing device to present tags associated with a media event at a plurality of communications devices, the instructions comprising:

receiving tag information defining at least a first tag communication of first tags from the plurality of communications devices;

identifying a portion of the tag information associated with at least one event to yield identified tag information;

generating a second tag communication of second tags based on the identified tag information; and

delivering the second tag communication to at least a portion of the communications devices.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein receiving tag information further comprises selecting the tag information associated with the event to comprise an identifier, and wherein the identifying comprises selecting the tag information comprises the identifier.

17. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein the identifying further comprises selecting the tag information received within selected time interval.

18. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein generating the second tag communication comprises selecting the second tag communication to comprise an audible tag communication.

19. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 18, wherein an audio volume of at least a portion of the audible tag communication is different than an audio volume of the media event or the default tag communication.

20. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein delivering the second tag communication comprises integrating the second tag communication into a media stream of the media event being delivered to the communications devices.
