Abstract

A massage roller includes a generally resilient roller body and a plurality of massage zones having various densities provided on the roller body.

Claims

1. A massage roller, comprising:

a generally resilient roller body; and

a plurality of massage zones having various densities provided on said roller body.

2. The massage roller of claim 1 wherein said roller body comprises a closed cell foam material.

3. The massage roller of claim 1 wherein said plurality of massage zones comprises at least one low-density massage zone having a first density, at least one high-density massage zone having a second density greater than said first density and at least one medium-density massage zone having a third density between said first density and said second density.

4. The massage roller of claim 3 wherein said at least one low-density massage zone comprises a plurality of low-density massage zones, said at least one medium-density massage zone comprises a plurality of medium-density massage zones and said at least one high-density massage zone comprises a plurality of high-density massage zones.

5. The massage roller of claim 4 further comprising a plurality of longitudinal zone channels provided in said roller body and a plurality of circumferential zone channels provided in said roller body in intersecting relationship with respect to said longitudinal zone channels;

and wherein said longitudinal zone channels and said circumferential zone channels separate said low-density massage zones, said medium-density massage zones and said high-density massage zones from each other on said roller body.

6. The massage roller of claim 5 wherein each of said low-density massage zones comprises a single, continuous, generally elongated and rectangular low-density massage surface.

7. The massage roller of claim 5 wherein each of said medium-density massage zones comprises a plurality of adjacent, parallel and generally elongated and rectangular medium-density massage surfaces.

8. The massage roller of claim 5 wherein each of said high-density massage zones comprises a matrix or grid comprising a plurality of adjacent, generally square-shaped high-density massage surfaces.

9. A massage roller, comprising:

a generally elongated, cylindrical, rigid roller core;

a generally elongated, cylindrical, resilient roller body provided on said roller core; and

a plurality of massage zones provided on said roller body and comprising;

at least one low-density massage zone having a first density;

at least one high-density massage zone having a second density greater than said first density; and

at least one medium-density massage zone having a third density between said first density and said second density.

10. The massage roller of claim 9 wherein said roller body comprises a closed cell foam material.

11. The massage roller of claim 9 wherein said at least one low-density massage zone comprises a plurality of low-density massage zones, said at least one medium-density massage zone comprises a plurality of medium-density massage zones and said at least one high-density massage zone comprises a plurality of high-density massage zones.

12. The massage roller of claim 11 further comprising a plurality of longitudinal zone channels provided in said roller body and a plurality of circumferential zone channels provided in said roller body in intersecting relationship with respect to said longitudinal zone channels;

and wherein said longitudinal zone channels and said circumferential zone channels separate said low-density massage zones, said medium-density massage zones and said high-density massage zones from each other on said roller body.

13. The massage roller of claim 12 wherein each of said low-density massage zones comprises a single, continuous, generally elongated and rectangular low-density massage surface.

14. The massage roller of claim 12 wherein each of said medium-density massage zones comprises a plurality of adjacent, parallel and generally elongated and rectangular medium-density massage surfaces.

15. The massage roller of claim 12 wherein each of said high-density massage zones comprises a matrix or grid comprising a plurality of adjacent, generally square-shaped high-density massage surfaces.

16. A massage roller, comprising:

a generally elongated, cylindrical, rigid roller core;

a generally elongated, cylindrical, resilient roller body provided on said roller core;

a plurality of longitudinal zone channels provided in said roller body;

a plurality of circumferential zone channels provided in said roller body and intersecting said longitudinal zone channels; and

a plurality of massage zones defined between said longitudinal zone channels and said circumferential zone channels on said roller body and comprising;

a plurality of low-density massage zones each having a first density;

a plurality of high-density massage zones each having a second density greater than said first density; and

a plurality of medium-density massage zones each having a third density between said first density and said second density.

17. The massage roller of claim 16 wherein each of said low-density massage zones comprises a single, continuous, generally elongated and rectangular low-density massage surface;

each of said medium-density massage zones comprises a plurality of adjacent, parallel and generally elongated and rectangular medium-density massage surfaces; and

each of said high-density massage zones comprises a matrix or grid comprising a plurality of adjacent, generally square-shaped high-density massage surfaces.

18. The massage roller of claim 17 wherein said high-density massage zones comprises a first set of high-density massage zones provided along a longitudinal axis of said roller body and a second set of high-density massage zones provided along said longitudinal axis of said roller body in generally diametrically-opposed relationship with respect to said first set of high-density massage zones;

said medium-density massage zones comprises a first pair of longitudinal medium-density massage zones between said high-density massage zones of said first set of high-density massage zones, a second pair of longitudinal medium-density massage zones between said high-density massage zones of said second set of high-density massage zones, a first set of semi-circumferential medium-density massage zones extending between said first set of high-density massage zones and said second set of high-density massage zones and a second set of semi-circumferential medium-density massage zones extending between said second set of high-density massage zones and said first set of high-density massage zones in generally diametrically-opposed relationship with respect to said first set of semi-circumferential massage zones; and

said low-density massage zones comprises a first pair of low-density massage zones interspersed among said first set of circumferential medium-density massage zones and a second pair of low-density massage zones interspersed among said second set of semi-circumferential medium-density massage zones.

19. The massage roller of claim 16 further comprising a core interior extending through said roller core, a resilient handle connecting strap extending through said core interior of said roller core and a pair of handles carried by said handle connecting strap.

20. The massage roller of claim 16 further comprising a pair of roller end caps carried by said roller core.
