1. A driver assistance system for assisting a driver in achieving consumption-controlled driving, the driver assistance system comprising:
- an electronic control system; and
wherein the electronic control system is operatively configured to activate a defined characteristic accelerator pedal curve at least in a defined economical driving mode, the defined characteristic accelerator pedal curve having a first metering range for an efficient driving method having a comparatively flat gradient, a second notification range for indicating a leaving of the efficient driving method having a gradient change toward zero, and a third dynamic range having a relatively steep gradient during which efficiency criteria are ignored; and
wherein said defined characteristic accelerator pedal curve provides a haptic acknowledgment function in a drive configuration.

Abstract
A driver assistance system for assisting a driver in achieving consumption-controlled driving combines haptic and visual acknowledgment functions, particularly in the form of a drive configuration, a display concept, and/or a deceleration assistant. A modified characteristic accelerator pedal curve is utilized, and ECO tips of the interactive output of efficient driving instructions are provided.
