Abstract

A mobile terminal including a wireless communication unit configured to wirelessly communicate with at least one other terminal; a controller configured to create a first set of thumbnail images for a first set of images among a plurality of images; and a display configured to display at least a portion of the first set of thumbnail images generated by the controller.

Claims

1. A mobile terminal, comprising:

a wireless communication unit configured to wirelessly communicate with at least one other terminal;

a controller configured to create a first set of thumbnail images for a first set of images among a plurality of images; and

a display configured to display at least a portion of the created first set of thumbnail images.

2. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to create the first set of thumbnail images when the plurality of thumbnail images are first to be displayed.

3. The mobile terminal of claim 2, wherein the controller is further configured to create a second set of thumbnail images for a second set of images among the plurality of images, and to create a third set of thumbnail images for a third set of images among the plurality of images.

4. The mobile terminal of claim 3, wherein the controller is further configured to create the second and third sets of thumbnail images after creating and displaying the first set of thumbnail images.

5. The mobile terminal of claim 3, wherein the second and third sets of thumbnails images are thumbnail images adjacent to the first set of thumbnail images in a specified arrangement list of the plurality of thumbnail images.

6. The mobile terminal of claim 3, wherein the second and third sets of thumbnail images include thumbnail images overlapping with some of the thumbnail images of the first set of thumbnail images.

7. The mobile terminal of claim 2, wherein the controller is further configured to only create the first set of thumbnail images without creating thumbnail images for all of the plurality of thumbnail images.

8. The mobile terminal of claim 1, further comprising:

a memory configured to store the plurality of images before the controller generates the first set of thumbnail images.

9. The mobile terminal of claim 3, further comprising:

a memory configured to store the created first, second and third sets of thumbnail images.

10. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to create a new thumbnail image corresponding to a new image of the plurality of images, and to add the created new thumbnail image to the first set of the thumbnail images at a beginning or at an end of the first set of thumbnail images.

11. The mobile terminal of claim 3, wherein the controller is further configured to receive an input signal requesting the second or third set of thumbnail images be displayed on the display, and to control the display to display only some of the thumbnail images of the second or third set of thumbnail images and to display dummy thumbnail images in place of the other thumbnail images of the second and third set of thumbnail images.

12. The mobile terminal of claim 1, further comprising:

a memory configured to store header data corresponding to the plurality of thumbnail images,

wherein the header data includes at least any one from an index about a thumbnail image corresponding to the header data, positions of the plurality of images corresponding to the thumbnail images, a position of the thumbnail image within the set group, information about whether the thumbnail image has been deleted, and information about whether the thumbnail image has been generated.

13. The mobile terminal of claim 3, wherein the controller is further configured to enter the mobile terminal into a low power mode, and to create the first, second and third set of thumbnail images only during the low power mode.

14. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to receive a deletion signal requesting at least one of the first set of thumbnail images be deleted, to stop displaying the selected at least one of the first set of thumbnail images, and to delete an image corresponding to the selected at least one of the first set of thumbnail images only after the mobile terminal enters a dim mode or a sleep mode.

15. A method of controlling a mobile terminal, the method comprising:

allowing, via a wireless communication unit of the mobile terminal, wireless communication with at least one other terminal;

creating, via a controller of the mobile terminal, a first set of thumbnail images for a first set of images among a plurality of images; and

displaying, via a display of the mobile terminal, at least a portion of the created first set of thumbnail images.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the creating step further comprises creating the first set of thumbnail images when the plurality of thumbnail images are first to be displayed.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the creating step further comprises creating a second set of thumbnail images for a second set of images among the plurality of images, and creating a third set of thumbnail images for a third set of images among the plurality of images.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the creating step further comprises creating the second and third sets of thumbnail images after creating and displaying the first set of thumbnail images.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the second and third sets of thumbnails images are thumbnail images adjacent to the first set of thumbnail images in a specified arrangement list of the plurality of thumbnail images.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein the second and third sets of thumbnail images include thumbnail images overlapping with some of the thumbnail images of the first set of thumbnail images.

21. The method of claim 16, wherein the creating step further comprises only creating the first set of thumbnail images without creating thumbnail images for all of the plurality of thumbnail images.

22. The method of claim 15, further comprising:

storing, in a memory of the mobile terminal, the plurality of images before the generating step generates the first set of thumbnail images.

23. The method of claim 17, further comprising:

storing, in a memory of the mobile terminal, the created first, second and third sets of thumbnail images.

24. The method of claim 15, wherein the creating step further comprises creating a new thumbnail image corresponding to a new image of the plurality of images, and adding the created new thumbnail image to the first set of the thumbnail images at a beginning or at an end of the first set of thumbnail images.

25. The method of claim 17, further comprising:

receiving an input signal requesting the second or third set of thumbnail images be displayed on the display; and

displaying only some of the thumbnail images of the second or third set of thumbnail images and to display dummy thumbnail images in place of the other thumbnail images of the second and third set of thumbnail images.

26. The method of claim 15, further comprising:

storing, in a memory of the mobile terminal, header data corresponding to the plurality of thumbnail images,

wherein the header data includes at least any one from an index about a thumbnail image corresponding to the header data, positions of the plurality of images corresponding to the thumbnail images, a position of the thumbnail image within the set group, information about whether the thumbnail image has been deleted, and information about whether the thumbnail image has been generated.

27. The method of claim 17, further comprising:

entering the mobile terminal into a low power mode; and

creating the first, second and third set of thumbnail images only during the low power mode.

28. The method of claim 15, further comprising:

receiving a deletion signal requesting at least one of the first set of thumbnail images be deleted;

stop displaying the selected at least one of the first set of thumbnail images; and

deleting an image corresponding to the selected at least one of the first set of thumbnail images only after the mobile terminal enters a dim mode or a sleep mode.
