Abstract

A method of performing measurement of a subject comprises measuring a physiological parameter of a subject, deriving data from the measured parameter, optionally, obtaining metadata relating to the measurement of the physiological parameter, determining the quality of the derived data from the derived data and/or the obtained metadata, and if the determined quality matches a predefined criteria, performing a predefined corrective action. In one embodiment, the method further comprises calculating one or more qualifiers from the derived data and/or from the obtained metadata, and wherein the step of determining the quality of the derived data comprises determining the quality of the derived data from the calculated qualifiers.

Claims

1. A method of performing measurement of a subject (22) comprising:

measuring a physiological parameter (24) of a subject (22),

deriving data (26) from the measured parameter (24),

obtaining metadata (28) relating to the measurement of the physiological parameter (24),

determining quality of the derived data (26) from the derived data (26) and/or from the obtained metadata (28), and

if the determined quality matches a predefined criteria, performing a predefined corrective action (34).

A method according to claim 1, and further comprising calculating one or more qualifiers (30) from the derived data (26) and/or from the obtained metadata (28), and wherein the step of determining the quality of the derived data (26) comprises determining the quality of the derived data (26) from the calculated qualifiers (30).

3. A method according to claim 1, wherein the physiological parameter (24) of the subject (22) is measured by a first device (10), and the metadata (28) relating to the measurement of the physiological parameter (24) is obtained by a second device (36).

4. A method according to claim 1, wherein the step of performing a predefined corrective action (34) comprises providing feedback to the subject (22).

5. A method according to claim 1, wherein the step of performing a predefined corrective action (34) comprises performing a further measurement of the physiological parameter (24) of the subject (22).

A method according to claim 1, wherein the step of performing a predefined corrective action (34) comprises storing a component at a first device (10) measuring the physiological parameter (24) of the subject (22), the component adapting the future measurement of the physiological parameter (24) of the subject (22).

7. A system for performing measurement of a subject (22) comprising:

a sensor (10) arranged to measure a physiological parameter (24) of a subject (22), and to derive data (26) from the measured parameter (24),

a device (10;

36) arranged to obtain metadata (28) relating to the measurement of the physiological parameter (24) and

a processor (10;

20) arranged to determine quality of the derived data (26) from the derived data (26) and/or the obtained metadata (28), and, if the determined quality matches a predefined criteria, to perform a predefined corrective action (34).

8. A system according to claim 7, wherein the processor (10;

20) is arranged to calculate one or more qualifiers (30) from the derived data (26) and/or from the obtained metadata (28), and when determining the quality of the derived data (26), to determine the quality of the derived data (26) from the calculated qualifiers (30).

9. A system according to claim 8, wherein the sensor (10) arranged to measure a physiological parameter (24) of the subject (22) is present in a first device (10), and the metadata (28) relating to the measurement of the physiological parameter (24) is obtained by a second device (36).

10. A system according to claim 7 wherein the processor (10;

20) is arranged, when performing a predefined corrective action (34), to provide feedback to the subject (22).

11. A system according to claim 7, wherein the processor (10;

20) is arranged, when performing a predefined corrective action (34), to request performance of a further measurement of the physiological parameter (24) of the subject (22).

12. A system according to claim 7, wherein the processor (10;

20) is arranged, when performing a predefined corrective action (34), to create a component for the first device (10) measuring the physiological parameter (24) of the subject (22), the component adapting the future measurement of the physiological parameter (24) of the subject (22).
