Abstract

A Personal-CFC system and method is described for controlling a multiplicity of telephones, for providing extended feature sets globally to all such telephones and for routing of media-rich calls between such telephones and multimedia equipment. The Personal-CFC is a software program that is easily embedded in various devices and it requires no hardware. For example, a mobile Personal-CFC system can be incorporated into a PDA or PC. The end user can use the Personal-CFC system to control other telephones, such as conference telephones, that do not belong to the end user.

Claims

1. A method for controlling a plurality of phones and phone feature sets having a common interface, comprising the following steps:

providing a memory for storing a Personal-CFC program,

providing a memory for storing End User preferences and Personal-CFC settings, providing a means for data entry,

providing a means for text-to-speech and speech-to-text conversions, comprising speech recognition, voice navigation, memory and computing power,

providing a display,

providing personalization of basic feature sets, extended feature sets, and multimedia,

providing a means to communicate using wireless technology with Service Providers and various telephones, whereby the end user can establish personal call and feature controls for all available telephones.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of phones is not owned by the end user.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the computing device is a mobile computing device.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the mobile computing device is a cellular telephone.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the mobile computing device is a PC.

6. A method which allows an end user to use a Personal CFC feature set for control of one or more telephones during the duration of an incoming telephone call from a service provider with automatic telephone selection, comprising the following steps:

receiving a primary call from the service provider to the Personal-CFC,

using the Personal CFC stored User profile to automatically select a destination telephone,

placing a secondary call from the Personal-CFC to the destination phone,

superimposing Personal PBX feature set on secondary call, and

bridging the primary and secondary calls, wherein

the call from service provider is relayed to the destination telephone with a Personal CFC feature set superimposed.

7. A method allowing an end user to use a Personal CFC feature set for control of one or more telephones during the duration of an incoming telephone call from a service provider with manual telephone selection, comprising the following steps:

receiving a primary call from the service provider to the Personal-CFC,

querying End User to select a destination telephone,

placing a secondary call from the Personal-CFC to the destination phone,

superimposing Personal CFC feature set on secondary call, and

bridging the primary and secondary calls, wherein

the call from service provider is relayed to the destination telephone with a Personal PBX feature set superimposed.

8. A method allowing an end user to use a Personal CFC feature set for control of one or more telephones during the duration of an incoming telephone call from a service provider with manual telephone selection, comprising the following steps:

receiving a primary call from the service provider to the Personal-CFC,

querying End User to select a destination telephone,

placing a secondary call from the Personal-CFC to the destination phone,

superimposing Personal CFC feature set on secondary call, and

bridging the primary and secondary calls, wherein

the call from service provider is relayed to the destination telephone with a Personal CFC feature set superimposed.

9. A method allowing a Personal CFC to control a phone call placed by an End User on a chosen telephone during the duration of the telephone call, comprising the following steps:

placing a primary call from the chosen telephone to the Personal CFC,

placing a secondary call from the Personal-CFC to the service provider,

superimposing a Personal CFC feature set on primary call, and

bridging the primary and secondary calls, wherein

the call from the chosen telephone is relayed to the service provider with the Personal CFC feature set superimposed.

10. A method allowing the bridging of a telephone call from a chosen phone to a service provider, comprising the following steps:

placing a primary call from the Personal CFC to the chosen telephone,

placing a secondary call from the Personal-CFC to the service provider,

superimposing a Personal CFC feature set on primary call, and

bridging the primary and secondary calls, wherein

the call from the chosen telephone is relayed to the service provider and having the Personal CFC feature set superimposed.
