Abstract

Disclosed herein are tools for repairing articular surfaces repair materials and for repairing an articular surface. The surgical tools are designed to be customizable or highly selectable by patient to increase the speed, accuracy and simplicity of performing total or partial arthroplasty.

Claims

1. A patient-specific surgical tool for repairing a joint of a patient, comprising:

a patient-specific contact surface configured to engage a substantially uncut cartilage surface including diseased or damaged cartilage of the patient'"'"'s joint, wherein the contact surface has a shape that is substantially a negative of at least a portion of the substantially uncut cartilage surface; and

a guide configured to direct movement of a surgical instrument in preparing the patient'"'"'s joint for an implant, wherein the guide has a predetermined position, shape and/or orientation relative to at least one of a biomechanical and anatomical axes associated with the patient'"'"'s joint.
