Abstract

The invention discloses a user terminal (115) for a wireless communications system (100) which is arranged to establish and carry out a communications session with a gateway node (120) in the system (100) according to a first protocol over at least one bearer (110, 140). The user terminal (115) is arranged to provide a predefined issued message to the gateway node (120) during the establishment of a session with an indicator that the user terminal (115) is arranged to handle traffic to and from the gateway node (120) using a predefined version of a defined filter (130).

Claims

1. A user terminal (115) for a wireless communications system (100), the user terminal (115) being arranged to establish and carry out a communications session with a gateway node (120) in the system (100) according to a first protocol over at least one bearer (110, 140), the user terminal (115) being characterized in that it is arranged to provide a predefined message to the gateway node (120) during the establishment of a session with an indicator that the user terminal (115) is arranged to handle traffic to and from the gateway node (120) using a predefined version of a defined filter (130).

The user terminal (115) of claim 1, being further characterized in that the user terminal (115) is arranged to also receive a response from the gateway node (120) to said predefined message and in that the user terminal (115) is also arranged to identify an indicator in said response, said indicator indicating that the gateway node (120) can transmit and receive messages according to said defined filter (130), the user terminal (115) being arranged to format messages it sends to the gateway node (120) according to a predefined other version of said filter (130) if said indicator is missing.

3. The user terminal (115) of claim 1 or 2, in which said first protocol is the IP-protocol, the Internet Protocol, the predefined message is the PCO, the Protocol Configuration Options, and the defined filter (130) is the TFT, Traffic Flow Template.

4. The user terminal (115) of any of claims 1-3, being a UE, a User Equipment, of an EPS system, an Evolved Packet system.

5. The user terminal (115) of any of claims 1-3, being an MS, a Mobile Station, of a GPRS system, a General Packet Radio Service system.

A gateway node (120) for a wireless communications system (100), the gateway node (120) being arranged to establish and carry out a communications session according to a first protocol with a user terminal (115) in the system (100) over at least one bearer (110, 140), the gateway node (120) being equipped with a function for choosing the proper bearer for messages to the user terminal, the gateway node (120) being characterized in that it is arranged to receive an indicator in a predefined message from the user terminal (115) during the establishment of a session, and if said indicator is received, to use a predefined version of a defined filter (130) when choosing the proper bearer (110, 140).

7. The gateway node (120) of claim 6, in which said first protocol is the IP-protocol, the Internet Protocol, the predefined message is the PCO, the Protocol Configuration Options and the defined filter (130) is the TFT, Traffic Flow Template.

8. The gateway node (120) of claim 6 or 7, in which said function for choosing the proper bearer is the Bearer Binding Function.

9. The gateway node (120) of any of claims 6-8, being a PDN-GW, a Packet Data Network Gateway, for an EPS system, an Evolved Packet System.

10. The gateway node (120) of any of claims 6-8, being a GGSN, a Gateway GPRS Support Node, for a GPRS system, a General Packet Radio System.
