Abstract

The present invention is a method and system for generation and playback of supplemented videos which include interactive features. The supplemented video includes hotspots that allow a video viewer to interact with the video when the video viewer sees an object. The hotspots can be manually defined. Information regarding the object and the hotspot can be stored in a separate XML file. Furthermore, the present invention can be a marketplace where a desired object can be found by searching the XML file. The search results can list the supplemented videos which contain hotspots corresponding to the object and also the time in the supplemented video in which the object is found. The present invention can also aggregate data about the objects based on the playback of the supplemented videos and the video viewer'"'"'s interaction with the supplemented videos.

19. A method of allowing a purchase of objects that are displayed within a video, the method comprising:

receiving or transmitting, from one or more computers, instructions for the display of content in a video display frame on a device, the instructions transmitted over a network to the device, the instructions when executed by the device configured to;

generate a display of video within the video display frame, the video containing one or more objects for purchase; and

generate one or more displays for an interactive feature within the video display frame, the interactive feature allowing a viewer of the video to purchase, from within the video display frame, one or more objects displayed in the video while the video is simultaneously being displayed.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the video display frame is displayed in a browser of a television, computer, or a mobile device.

21. The method of claim 19, wherein

at least one of the one or more displays of the interactive feature is an interface that immediately allows a purchase of the object without the viewer entering payment information.

22. The method of claim 19, wherein

at least one of the one or more displays of the interactive feature is a payment interface displayed within the video display frame.

23. The method of claim 19, wherein

at least one of the one or more displays of the interactive feature is a list of items displayed within the video display frame, the list of items corresponding to the one or more objects for purchase.

24. The method of claim 19, wherein the instructions when executed by the device are further configured to:

associate hotspots with particular locations in the video, the hotspots corresponding to objects within the video and including a user activation feature.

25. The method of claim 24, wherein the instructions when executed by the device are further configured to:

provide an on/off button configured to enable or disable the user activation feature for the hotspot.

26. The method of claim 24, wherein the instructions when executed by the device are further configured to:

provide multiple on/off buttons configured to enable or disable the user activation feature for the hotspots according to categories of the hotspots.

27. The method of claim 24, wherein upon user activation of the hotspot, the interactive feature allowing a user to purchase one or more objects is either invoked or modified.

28. The method of claim 24, wherein upon user activation of the hotspot, a caption is overlaid the object associated with the hotspot.

29. The method of claim 28, wherein the caption follows the movement of the object through frames of the video.

30. The method of claim 19, wherein at least one of the one or more displays of the interactive feature is not overlaid the video.

31. The method of claim 19, wherein

at least one of the one or more displays of the interactive feature allows a virtual placement of one more objects for purchase in a shopping cart.

32. The method of claim 19, wherein

the interactive feature includes an authentication mechanism displayed within the interface to associate a user account with the purchase transaction.

33. The method of claim 32, wherein the single user account may be utilized with a plurality of stores.

34. The method of claim 19, wherein video display frame is configured to display multiple different videos.

35. A system allowing a purchase of objects displayed in a video, the system comprising one or more computers configured to:

transmit instructions for the display of content in a video display frame on a device, the instructions transmitted over a network to the device, the instructions when executed by the device configured to;

generate a display of video within the video display frame, the video containing one or more objects for purchase; and

generate one or more displays for an interactive feature within the video display frame, the interactive feature allowing a viewer of the video to purchase, from within the video display frame, one or more objects displayed in the video while the video is simultaneously being displayed.

36. The system of claim 35, wherein the video display frame is displayed in a browser of a television, computer, or a mobile device.

37. The system of claim 35, wherein

at least one of the one or more displays of the interactive feature is an interface that immediately allows a purchase of the object without the viewer entering payment information.

38. The system of claim 35, wherein

at least one of the one or more displays of the interactive feature is a payment interface displayed within the video display frame.

39. The system of claim 35, wherein

at least one of the one or more displays of the interactive feature is a list of items displayed within the video display frame, the list of items corresponding to the one or more objects for purchase.

40. The system of claim 35, wherein the instructions when executed by the device are further configured to:

associate hotspots with particular locations in the video, the hotspots corresponding to objects within the video and including a user activation feature.

41. The system of claim 35, wherein the instructions when executed by the device are further configured to:

42. The system of claim 35, wherein the instructions when executed by the device are further configured to:

43. The system of claim 42, wherein upon user activation of the hotspot, the interactive feature allowing a user to purchase one or more objects is either invoked or modified.

44. The system of claim 42, wherein upon user activation of the hotspot, a caption is overlaid the object associated with the hotspot.

45. The system of claim 44, wherein the caption follows the movement of the object through frames of the video.

46. The system of claim 35, wherein at least one of the one or more displays of the interactive feature is not overlaid the video.

47. The system of claim 35, wherein

at least one of the one or more displays of the interactive feature allows a virtual placement of one more objects for purchase in a shopping cart.

48. The system of claim 35, wherein

the interactive feature includes an authentication mechanism displayed within the interface to associate a user account with the purchase transaction.

49. The system of claim 48, wherein the single user account may be utilized with a plurality of stores.

50. The system of claim 49, wherein video display frame is configured to display multiple different videos.
