1. A device for operating a synchronous machine, comprising:

  • a three-phase AC power controller connectable to a three-phase system and including at least two semiconductor controllers for the phases of the three-phase system;

    a position encoder configured to determine a position angle of the rotor of the synchronous machine;

    a device configured to determine the system voltage phase position for at least one of the phases of the three-phase system;

    at least one device, configured to specify a pair of two of the semiconductor controllers on the basis of the position angle of the rotor,; and

    at least one device, configured to specify switching instants for the semiconductor controllers of the respective pair on the basis of the system voltage phase position.
