Abstract

According to an aspect of the disclosure, a provisioning system for a network includes a first device associated with a site. The first device includes an RFID reader associated therewith. The system also includes a second device including a device identifier associated therewith. The device identifier includes information about the second device to assist in joining it to the network. The RFID reader is configured to read the device identifier on the second device to obtain information about the second device. Based on the information about the second device it can then be joined to the network by the first device.

Claims

1. A method of provisioning a device to a network, comprising:

providing a first device associated with a network, said first device including an RFID reader associated therewith;

providing a second device, including a device identifier associated therewith, that contains information about said second device;

reading said device identifier of said second device with said RFID reader to receive the second device information at said first device;

joining said second device to said network using said first device and said second device information.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

establishing communication between said first device and a cloud server to receive additional information about said second device before joining said second device to said network.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein said device identifier includes at least one device identification and communication information of said second device.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

establishing communication between said first device and said cloud server in the absence of communication of said second device; and

receiving the communication information of the second device from the cloud server at the first device

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

configuring said first device as a gateway.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

configuring said second device as a network device.

7. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

configuring said second device as a mobile device.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

configuring said first device as a mobile device.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

configuring said second device as a gateway.

10. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

configuring said second device as a network device.

11. A provisioning system for a network, comprising:

a first device associated with a site and including an RFID reader associated therewith;

a second device including a device identifier to provide information about said second device;

said RFID reader configured to read said device identifier to obtain said second device information;

said first device configured to join said second device to said to the network using said second device information.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein said first device is a gateway.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein said second device is a network device.

14. The system of claim 12, wherein said second device is a mobile device.

15. The system of claim 11, wherein said first device is a mobile device.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein said second device is a gateway.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein said second device is a network device.

18. The system of claim 11, wherein said first device is configured to establish communication with a cloud server to receive additional information about said second device to assist in joining said second device to the network.

19. The system of claim 11, wherein said device identifier includes at least one of device identification and communication information of said second device.

20. The system of claim 11, wherein said first device is configured to establish communication with a cloud server in the absence of communication information of said second device and receive the communication information of the second device from the cloud server.
