Abstract

A method includes displaying, in a window or field, first information associated with a first source running on a portable electronic device and detecting an input to display second information associated with a second source. After the detecting, second information associated with the second source and the first information in the window or field is displayed.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

displaying, by a first application running on an electronic device, first information for the first application in a window or field;

detecting, by the electronic device, a gesture;

in response to detecting the gesture;

combining information associated with a plurality of applications in a list, including at least some of the first information;

displaying the list in the window or field.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the list is continuous and scrollable.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first application is an email application and a second application is a calendar application.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the first information and the information associated with the plurality of applications are organized in a single list.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the list is scrollable with a gesture.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of applications is not launched upon detection of the gesture.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the information for the first application comprises email information for at least one email;

wherein a second application of the plurality of applications is a calendar application and information associated with the second application comprises calendar events;

wherein the email information and the calendar events are chronologically ordered in a scrollable list.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the information for the first application comprises email information for at least one email;

wherein a second application of the plurality of applications is a contacts application and information associated with the second application comprises a plurality of contacts;

wherein the email information and the plurality of contacts are scrollable in the window.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the list comprises second information associated with a second application of the plurality of applications, wherein displaying the list in the window comprises temporarily displaying the list, after which the email information is displayed without displaying the second information until subsequent detection of the gesture.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the list comprises second information associated with a second application of the plurality of applications, further comprising displaying the list until the second information is scrolled off the display, after which the first information is displayed without displaying the second information until subsequent detection of the gesture.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the information associated with a plurality of applications is displayed following a first end of the first information.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the list is displayed chronologically.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the list comprises at least one future event.

14. A method comprising:

displaying, by an email application running on an electronic device, email information for at least one email in a window;

detecting, by the electronic device, a gesture;

in response to detecting the gesture, displaying calendar events associated with a calendar application in the window while displaying at least some of the email information;

wherein the email information and the calendar events are chronologically ordered in a list such that the email information and the calendar events are scrollable together.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the calendar events comprise at least one future event.

16. The method of claim 14, wherein displaying the calendar events comprises temporarily displaying the calendar events, after which the email information is displayed without displaying the calendar events until subsequent detection of the gesture.

17. The method of claim 14, further comprising displaying the calendar events until the calendar events are scrolled off the display, after which the email information is displayed without displaying the calendar events until subsequent detection of the gesture.

18. The method of claim 14, wherein third information associated with a third application is combined with the list such that the third information is scrolled through after scrolling through the list.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein third information is scrolled through in response to detecting an input while displaying the list.

20. The method of claim 14, wherein the calendar application is not launched upon detection of the gesture.

21. A method comprising:

displaying, by an email application running on an electronic device, email information for at least one email in a window;

detecting, by the electronic device, a gesture;

in response to detecting the gesture, displaying a plurality of contacts from a contacts application in the window while displaying at least some of the email information;

wherein the email information and the plurality of contacts are displayed such that the email information and the plurality of contacts are in a scrollable list.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein the plurality of contacts are scrolled through after scrolling through the email information.

23. The method of claim 21, wherein displaying the plurality of contacts comprises temporarily displaying the plurality of contacts, after which the email information is displayed without displaying the plurality of contacts until subsequent detection of the gesture.

24. The method of claim 21, further comprising displaying the plurality of contacts until the plurality of contacts are scrolled off the display, after which the email information is displayed without displaying the plurality of contacts until subsequent detection of the gesture.

25. The method of claim 21, wherein the plurality of contacts are displayed alphabetically.

26. The method of claim 21, wherein the email information and the plurality of contacts are displayed side-by-side and are scrolled through horizontally.

27. A method comprising:

displaying, by an first application running on an electronic device, first information for the first application in a window;

detecting, by the electronic device, a gesture;

in response to detecting the gesture;

chronologically ordering information associated with a plurality of applications in a list, including the first information and at least one future event;

displaying the list in the window;

scrolling through the list.

28. The method of claim 27, where at least one of the plurality of applications is one of a calendar application and a task application.

29. The method of claim 27, wherein the list comprises second information associated with a second application of the plurality of applications, wherein displaying the list in the window comprises temporarily displaying the list, after which the first information is displayed without displaying the second information until subsequent detection of the gesture.

30. The method of claim 27, wherein the list comprises second information associated with a second application of the plurality of applications, further comprising displaying the list until the second information is scrolled off the display, after which the first information is displayed without displaying the second information until subsequent detection of the gesture.
