Abstract

The subject matter disclosed herein relates to systems, methods, apparatuses, devices, articles, and means for updating radio models. For certain example implementations, a method for one or more server devices may comprise receiving at one or more communication interfaces at least one measurement that corresponds to a position of a first mobile device within an indoor environment. At least one radio model that is stored in one or more memories may be updated based, at least in part, on the at least one measurement to produce at least one updated radio model. The at least one radio model and the at least one updated radio model may correspond to the indoor environment. The at least one updated radio model may be transmitted to enable a second mobile device to use the at least one updated radio model for positioning within the indoor environment. Other example implementations are described herein.

Claims

5. The method of claim 1 wherein identifying the conflict comprises determining, based on the map information, that the first mobile device has moved through an obstacle identified in the map information.

7. A server for providing indoor navigation information to mobile devices, the server comprising:

means for receiving an indication of a position of a first mobile device within an indoor environment;

means for identifying a conflict between the position of the first mobile device and map information associated with the indoor environment;

means for updating the map information associated with the indoor environment responsive to the conflict being identified between the position of the first mobile device and the map information associated with the indoor environment to produce updated map information associated with the indoor environment; and

means for transmitting the updated map information associated with the indoor environment to a second mobile device to enable the second mobile device to use the updated map information for positioning within the indoor environment.

8. The server of claim 7 wherein the conflict between the position of the first mobile device and the map information comprises the position of the first mobile device being associated with an area identified as inaccessible in the map information associated with the indoor environment.

9. The server of claim 8 further wherein the means for updating the map information includes means for updating the map information associated with the indoor environment to indicate that the area identified as inaccessible is accessible.

10. The server of claim 9 wherein the means for updating the map information includes means for performing the updating only if a threshold number of positions of mobile devices associated with the area identified as inaccessible are received.

11. The server of claim 7 wherein the means for identifying the conflict comprises means for determining, based on the map information, that the first mobile device has moved through an obstacle identified in the map information.

12. The server of claim 7 wherein the means for updating the map information associated with the indoor environment includes means for updating annotations associated with the map information.

13. An article comprising:

at least one storage medium having stored thereon instructions executable by one or more processors to;

receive via one or more communication interfaces an indication of a position of a first mobile device within an indoor environment;

identify a conflict between the position of the first mobile device and map information associated with the indoor environment;

update the map information associated with the indoor environment responsive to the conflict being identified between the position of the first mobile device and the map information associated with the indoor environment to produce updated map information associated with the indoor environment; and

transmit the updated map information associated with the indoor environment to a second mobile device to enable the second mobile device to use the updated map information for positioning within the indoor environment.

14. The article of claim 13 wherein the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the map information comprises the position of the mobile device being associated with an area identified as inaccessible in the map information associated with the indoor environment.

15. The article of claim 14 further comprising instructions to cause the one or more processors to update the map information associated with the indoor environment to indicate that the area identified as inaccessible is accessible.

16. The article of claim 15 further comprising instructions to cause the one or more processors to update the map information only if a threshold number of positions of mobile devices associated with the area identified as inaccessible are received.

17. The article of claim 13 wherein the instructions to cause the one or more processors to identify the conflict comprise instructions to cause the one or more processors to determine, based on the map information, that the first mobile device has moved through an obstacle identified in the map information.

18. The article of claim 13 wherein the instructions to cause the one or more processors to update the map information associated with the indoor environment includes instructions to cause the one or more processors to update annotations associated with the map information.

19. A server comprising:

one or more processors configured to;

receive via one or more communication interfaces at least one measurement that corresponds to a position of a first mobile device within an indoor environment;

compare the position of the first mobile device within the indoor environment with a map information associated with the indoor environment to identify a conflict between the position of the first mobile device and the map information associated with the indoor environment;

update the map information associated with the indoor environment responsive to the conflict being identified between the position of the first mobile device with the map information associated with the indoor environment to produce updated map information associated with the indoor environment; and

transmit the updated map information associated with the indoor environment to second mobile device to enable the second mobile device to use the updated map information for positioning within the indoor environment.

20. The server of claim 19 wherein the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the map information comprises the position of the mobile device being associated with an area identified as inaccessible in the map information associated with the indoor environment.

21. The server of claim 20 wherein the processor is further configured to the map information associated with the indoor environment to indicate that the area identified as inaccessible is accessible.

22. The server of claim 21 wherein the processor is further configured to update the map information to indicate that the area identified as inaccessible is accessible only if a threshold number of positions of mobile devices associated with the area identified as inaccessible are received.

23. The server of claim 19 wherein the processor being configured to identify the conflict is further configured to determine, based on the map information, that the first mobile device has moved through an obstacle identified in the map information.

24. The server of claim 19 wherein the one or more processors being configured to update the map information associated with the indoor environment is further configured to update annotations associated with the map information.

25. A method for one or more server devices, the method comprising:

receiving an indication of a position of a first mobile device within an indoor environment;

identifying a conflict between the position of the first mobile device and at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment;

updating the at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment responsive to the conflict being identified between the position of the first mobile device with the at least one graph to produce updated graph information associated with the indoor environment; and

transmitting the updated graph information associated with the indoor environment to a second mobile device to enable the second mobile device to use the updated graph information for positioning within the indoor environment.

26. The method of claim 25 wherein the conflict indicates that the at least one graph does not match a characteristic associated with the indoor environment.

27. The method of claim 26 wherein the position of the first mobile device does not match a position corresponding to a node or edge of the at least one graph;

and wherein updating the at least one graph includes updating the at least one graph to include a node or edge associated with the position of the first mobile device.

28. The method of claim 27 wherein the updating is performed only if a threshold number of positions of mobile devices associated with the area identified as inaccessible are received.

29. The method of claim 25 wherein identifying the conflict between the position of the first mobile device and the at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment includes comparing the position of the first mobile device with a previous position of the first mobile device to determine whether the first mobile device has moved along a path that does not correspond to a traversable path included in the at least one graph.

30. A server for providing indoor navigation information to mobile devices, the server comprising:

means for receiving an indication of a position of a first mobile device within an indoor environment;

means for identifying a conflict between the position of the first mobile device and at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment;

means for updating the at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment responsive to the conflict being identified between the position of the first mobile device with the at least one graph to produce updated graph information associated with the indoor environment; and

means for transmitting the updated graph information associated with the indoor environment to a second mobile device to enable the second mobile device to use the updated graph information for positioning within the indoor environment.

31. The server of claim 30 wherein the conflict indicates that the at least one graph does not match a characteristic of the physical world associated with the indoor environment.

32. The server of claim 31 wherein the position of the first mobile device does not match a position corresponding to a node or edge of the at least one graph;

and wherein the means for updating the at least one graph includes means for updating the at least one graph to include a node or edge associated with the position of the first mobile device.

33. The server of claim 32 wherein the means for updating the at least one graph includes means for updating the at least one graph only if a threshold number of positions of mobile devices associated with the area identified as inaccessible are received.

34. The server of claim 30 wherein the means for identifying the conflict between the position of the first mobile device and at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment includes means for comparing the position of the first mobile device with a previous position of the first mobile device and means for determining whether the first mobile device has moved along a path that does not correspond to a traversable path included in the at least one graph.

35. An article comprising:

at least one storage medium having stored thereon instructions executable by one or more processors to;

receive via one or more communication interfaces an indication of a position of a first mobile device within an indoor environment;

identify a conflict between the position of the first mobile device and at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment;

update the at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment responsive to the conflict being identified between the position of the first mobile device with the at least one graph to produce updated graph information associated with the indoor environment; and

transmit the updated graph information associated with the indoor environment to a second mobile device to enable the second mobile device to use the updated graph information for positioning within the indoor environment.

36. The article of claim 35 wherein the conflict indicates that the at least one graph does not match a characteristic of the physical world associated with the indoor environment.

37. The article of claim 36 wherein the position of the first mobile device does not match a position corresponding to a node or edge of the at least one graph;

and wherein the instructions to cause the one or more processors to update the at least one graph include instructions to cause the one or more processors to update the at least one graph to include a node or edge associated with the position of the first mobile device.

38. The article of claim 37 wherein the instructions to cause the one or more processors to update the at least one graph include instructions to cause the one or more processors to perform the update only if a threshold number of positions of mobile devices associated with the area identified as inaccessible are received.

39. The article of claim 35 wherein the instructions to cause the one or more processors to identify the conflict between the position of the first mobile device and the at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment include instructions to cause the one or more processors to compare the position of the first mobile device with a previous position of the first mobile device and instructions to cause the one or more processors to determine whether the first mobile device has moved along a path that does not correspond to a traversable path included in the at least one graph.

40. A server comprising:

one or more processors configured to;

receive via one or more communication interfaces an indication of a position of a first mobile device within an indoor environment;

identify a conflict between the position of the first mobile device and at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment;

update at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment responsive to the conflict being identified between the position of the first mobile device with the at least one graph to produce updated graph information associated with the indoor environment; and

transmit the updated graph information associated with the indoor environment to a second mobile device to enable the second mobile device to use the updated graph information for positioning within the indoor environment.

41. The server of claim 40 wherein the conflict indicates that the at least one graph does not match a characteristic of the physical world associated with the indoor environment.

42. The server of claim 41 wherein the position of the first mobile device does not match a position corresponding to a node or edge of the at least one graph;

and wherein the one or more processors is configured to update the at least one graph to include a node or edge associated with the position of the first mobile device.

43. The server of claim 42 wherein the one or more processors is configured to update the at least one graph only if a threshold number of positions of mobile devices associated with the area identified as inaccessible are received.

44. The server of claim 40 wherein the one or more processors being configured to identify the conflict between the position of the first mobile device and the at least one graph that corresponds to the indoor environment is further configured to compare the position of the first mobile device with a previous position of the first mobile device and to determine whether the first mobile device has moved along a path that does not correspond to a traversable path included in the at least one graph.

45. A method for updating indoor navigation information at a mobile device, the method comprising:

detecting a conflict between a position of the mobile device and map information associated with the indoor environment;

transmitting an indication of the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the map information to a positioning server;

receiving updated map information associated with the indoor environment from the positioning server; and

performing a positioning operating using the updated map information.

46. The method of claim 45 wherein detecting conflict between the position of the mobile device and the map information further comprises detecting that the position of the mobile device is associated with an area identified as inaccessible in the map information associated with the indoor environment.

47. The method of claim 45 wherein detecting the conflict further comprises determining, based on the map information, that the mobile device has moved through an obstacle identified in the map information.

48. An article comprising:

at least one storage medium having stored thereon instructions executable by one or more processors to;

detect a conflict between a position of the mobile device and map information associated with the indoor environment;

transmit an indication of the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the map information to a positioning server;

receive updated map information associated with the indoor environment from the positioning server; and

perform a positioning operating using the updated map information.

49. The article of claim 48 wherein the at least one storage medium has stored thereon instructions executable by one or more processors to detect that the position of the mobile device is associated with an area identified as inaccessible in the map information associated with the indoor environment.

50. The article of claim 48 wherein detecting the conflict comprises determining, based on the map information, that the mobile device has moved through an obstacle identified in the map information.

51. A system for updating indoor navigation information at a mobile device, the method comprising:

means for detecting a conflict between a position of the mobile device and map information associated with the indoor environment;

means for transmitting an indication of the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the map information to a positioning server;

means for receiving updated map information associated with the indoor environment from the positioning server; and

means for performing a positioning operating using the updated map information.

1. A method for providing indoor navigation information to mobile devices, the method comprising:

receiving an indication of a position of a first mobile device within an indoor environment;

identifying a conflict between the position of the first mobile device and map information associated with the indoor environment;

updating the map information associated with the indoor environment responsive to the conflict being identified between the position of the first mobile device and the map information associated with the indoor environment to produce updated map information associated with the indoor environment; and

transmitting the updated map information associated with the indoor environment to a second mobile device to enable the second mobile device to use the updated map information for positioning within the indoor environment.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein updating the map information associated with the indoor environment includes updating annotations associated with the map information.

52. The method of claim 51 wherein the means for detecting conflict between the position of the mobile device and the map information comprises means for detecting that the position of the mobile device is associated with an area identified as inaccessible in the map information associated with the indoor environment.

52-1. The method of claim 51 wherein the means for detecting the conflict comprises means for determining, based on the map information, that the mobile device has moved through an obstacle identified in the map information.

53. A mobile device comprising:

one or more processors configured to;

detect a conflict between a position of the mobile device and map information associated with the indoor environment;

transmit an indication of the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the map information to a positioning server;

receive updated map information associated with the indoor environment from the positioning server; and

perform a positioning operating using the updated map information.

54. The mobile device of claim 53 wherein the one or more processors are further configured to detect the position of the mobile device is associated with an area identified as inaccessible in the map information associated with the indoor environment.

55. The article of claim 53 wherein detecting the conflict comprises determining, based on the map information, that the mobile device has moved through an obstacle identified in the map information.

56. A method for updating indoor navigation information at a mobile device, the method comprising:

detecting a conflict between a position of the mobile device and graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment;

transmitting an indication of the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment to a positioning server;

receiving updated graph information associated with the indoor environment from the positioning server; and

performing a positioning operating using the updated graph information.

57-2. The article of claim 60 wherein the conflict indicates that the graph information does not match a characteristic associated with the indoor environment.

58-3. The article of claim 60 wherein the position of the mobile device does not match a position corresponding to a node or edge of the graph information;

and wherein the updated graph information includes a node or edge associated with the position of the mobile device.

59-4. The article of claim 60 wherein the instructions executable by the one or more processors to detect the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment include instructions executable by the one or more processors to compare the position of the mobile device with a previous position of the mobile device to determine whether the mobile device has moved along a path that does not correspond to a traversable path included in the graph information.

60. An article comprising:

at least one storage medium having stored thereon instructions executable by one or more processors to;

detect a conflict between a position of the mobile device and graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment;

transmit an indication of the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment to a positioning server;

receive updated graph information associated with the indoor environment from the positioning server; and

perform a positioning operating using the updated graph information.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the conflict between the position of the first mobile device and the map information comprises the position of the first mobile device being associated with an area identified as inaccessible in the map information associated with the indoor environment.

3. The method of claim 2 further comprising updating the map information associated with the indoor environment to indicate that the area identified as inaccessible is accessible.

4. The method of claim 3 wherein the updating is performed only if a threshold number of positions of mobile devices associated with the area identified as inaccessible are received.

57. The method of claim 56 wherein the conflict indicates that the graph information does not match a characteristic associated with the indoor environment.

58. The method of claim 56 wherein the position of the mobile device does not match a position corresponding to a node or edge of the graph information;

and wherein the updated graph information includes a node or edge associated with the position of the mobile device.

59. The method of claim 56 wherein detecting the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment includes comparing the position of the mobile device with a previous position of the mobile device to determine whether the mobile device has moved along a path that does not correspond to a traversable path included in the graph information.

61. The system of claim 60 wherein the conflict indicates that the graph information does not match a characteristic associated with the indoor environment.

62. The system of claim 60 wherein the position of the mobile device does not match a position corresponding to a node or edge of the graph information;

and wherein the updated graph information includes a node or edge associated with the position of the mobile device.

63. The system of claim 60 wherein the means for detecting the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment includes means for comparing the position of the mobile device with a previous position of the mobile device to determine whether the mobile device has moved along a path that does not correspond to a traversable path included in the graph information.

60-5. A system for updating indoor navigation information at a mobile device, the method comprising:

means for detecting a conflict between a position of the mobile device and graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment;

means for transmitting an indication of the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment to a positioning server;

means for receiving updated graph information associated with the indoor environment from the positioning server; and

means for performing a positioning operating using the updated graph information.

64. A mobile device comprising:

one or more processors configured to;

detect a conflict between a position of the mobile device and graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment;

transmit an indication of the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment to a positioning server;

receive updated graph information associated with the indoor environment from the positioning server; and

perform a positioning operating using the updated graph information.

65. The mobile device of claim 64 wherein the conflict indicates that the graph information does not match a characteristic associated with the indoor environment.

66. The mobile device of claim 64 wherein the position of the mobile device does not match a position corresponding to a node or edge of the graph information;

and wherein the updated graph information includes a node or edge associated with the position of the mobile device.

67. The mobile device of claim 64 wherein the one or more processors configured to detect the conflict between the position of the mobile device and the graph information that corresponds to the indoor environment are further configured to compare the position of the mobile device with a previous position of the mobile device to determine whether the mobile device has moved along a path that does not correspond to a traversable path included in the graph information.
