Abstract

There is disclosed a system and method for uploading an image file to an image repository from a mobile handheld communications device having an integrated camera. In an embodiment, the method comprises: upon determining capture of an image using the integrated camera, automatically initiating an image upload module; configuring the image upload module to display an image upload user interface having user selectable image upload settings; and upon receiving user instructions, uploading the image file to the image repository with the selected image upload settings. The upload settings may be preselected and the device may be preauthorized to access an account on the image repository.

Claims

1. A method implemented by a processor of a communication device, the method comprising:

uploading a file comprising camera captured information, to an online repository; and

obtaining a link to the file at the online repository, the link including a unique identifier associated with the file.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the unique identifier keeps a pointer to the file at the online repository.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the link is a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) to the file at the online repository.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the link includes an identification token.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving selected upload settings.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving descriptive information about the file.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving specified viewing privileges of the file.

8. A method implemented by a processor of a communication device, the method comprising:

uploading a camera captured file, to an online repository; and

obtaining a link or pointer to the file at the online repository, the link including a unique identifier associated with the file.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the unique identifier keeps a pointer to the file at the online repository.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein the link is a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) to the file at the online repository.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein the link includes an identification token.

12. The method of claim 8, further comprising receiving selected upload settings.

13. The method of claim 8, further comprising receiving descriptive information about the file.

14. The method of claim 8, further comprising receiving specified viewing privileges of the file.

15. A mobile communication device comprising:

a camera,

a processor, interactive with the camera, and configured to;

upload a file comprising camera captured information, to an online repository; and

obtain a link to the file at the online repository, the link including a unique identifier associated with the file.

16. The mobile communication device of claim 15, wherein the unique identifier keeps a pointer to the file at the online repository.

17. The mobile communication device of claim 15, wherein the link is a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) to the file at the online repository.

18. The mobile communication device of claim 15, wherein the link includes an identification token.

19. The mobile communication device of claim 15, wherein the communication device is preauthorized to access an account at the online repository.

20. The mobile communication device of claim 15, wherein the processor is further configured to receive descriptive information about the file.

21. The mobile communication device of claim 15, wherein the processor is further configured to receive specified viewing privileges of the file.

22. A communication device comprising:

a processor configured to;

upload a file comprising an image captured by the communication device, to an online repository; and

obtain a link to the file at the online repository, the link including a unique identifier associated with the file.

23. The communication device of claim 22, wherein the unique identifier keeps a pointer to the file at the online repository.

24. The communication device of claim 22, wherein the link is a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) to the file at the online repository.

25. The communication device of claim 22, wherein the link includes an identification token.

26. The communication device of claim 22, wherein the communication device further comprises a camera, and the file is captured by the camera.

27. The communication device of claim 22, wherein the communication device is a mobile communication device.

28. The communication device of claim 22, wherein the communication device is preauthorized to access an account at the online repository.

29. The communication device of claim 22, wherein the processor is further configured to receive descriptive information about the file.

30. The communication device of claim 22, wherein the processor is further configured to receive specified viewing privileges of the file.
