Abstract

An embodiment of the invention is directed to a method for the real time monitoring and measurement of sleep quality of a subject comprising the steps of; obtaining information from the subject using sensory signals; analyzing the information contained within the signals using signal processing and artificial intelligence; and using the analyzed information to create a protocol to improve the sleep quality of the subject. Another embodiment of the invention is directed to a system for real time monitoring and measurement of sleep quality of a subject comprising: a means for obtaining sensory information from the subject; a means for transmitting the sensory information; a means for analyzing the sensory information; and a means for creating a protocol to improve the sleep quality of the subject.

Claims

1. A method for real time monitoring and measurement of sleep quality of a subject comprising the steps of:

obtaining information from the subject using sensory signals from one or more sources;

analyzing the information contained within the signals using signal processing and artificial intelligence; and

using the analyzed information to create a protocol to improve the sleep quality of the subject.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the sensory signal is an electroencephalogram.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the sensory signal is an electrocardiogram.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the sensory signal is from a respiratory monitor.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein the sensory signal is an electromyogram.

6. The method according to claim 1, wherein the sensory signal is an electrooculogram.

7. The method according to claim 1, wherein the sensory signal is from a microphone.

8. The method according to claim 1, wherein the sensory signal is from a video camera.

9. The method according to claim 1, wherein the sensory signal is oxygen saturation.

10. The method according to claim 1, wherein the sensory signals are obtained from two or more sources.

11. The method according to claim 1, wherein the protocol is transmitted to a device.

12. The method according to claim 11, wherein the device is a smart phone.

13. The method according to claim 1, wherein the protocol is transmitted to a physician'"'"'s office.

14. The method according to claim 1, wherein the information is obtained in real-time while the subject is asleep.

15. The method according to claim 11, wherein the device alerts the subject in real time.

16. The method according to claim 11, wherein the protocol is stored in the device.

17. A system for real time monitoring and measurement of sleep quality of a subject comprising:

a means for obtaining sensory information from the subject;

a means for transmitting the sensory information;

a means for analyzing the sensory information; and

a means for creating a protocol to improve the sleep quality of the subject.

18. The system according to claim 17, wherein sensory information is obtained from an electrocardiogram, respiratory monitor, electromyogram, electrooculogram, microphone or video camera.

19. The system according to claim 17, wherein the means for analyzing the sensory information comprises a SVM classifier.
