Abstract

Socially provided context-based messaging can include receiving a message content in a messaging system from a user, wherein the content includes objects; matching one or more objects of the message content to socially provided context information, which the socially provided context information is information relevant to an object obtained from a social network to which the user belongs; and displaying the socially provided context information with the message content for a recipient user to receive.

Claims

1. A method for socially provided context-based messaging, comprising:

receiving a message content in a messaging system from a user, wherein the content includes objects;

matching one or more objects of the message content to socially provided context information, wherein the socially provided context information is information relevant to an object obtained from a social network to which the user belongs; and

displaying the socially provided context information with the message content for a recipient user to receive.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the socially provided context information is provided by members of a social network to which the user providing the message content belongs.

3. The method as claimed in claim 1, including:

providing relationship meta-data linking an object and socially provided context information.

4. The method as claimed in claim 3, including:

filtering the relationship meta-data when matching an object to socially provided context information.

5. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein additional content information is matched to an object, wherein the additional context information is obtained from a user'"'"'s devices.

6. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the socially provided context information is stored in relation to an object for future access.

7. The method as claimed in claim 1, including:

providing additional relevant comments relating to the socially provided context information, wherein the additional relevant comments provide further information on the context information viewable by a recipient of the message content with socially provided context information.

8. The method as claimed in claim 1, including:

moderating the socially provided context information.

9. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein moderating the socially provided context information includes overlaying shadow information which a moderator considers more appropriate than the matched socially provided context information.

10. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the messaging system is provided for a user using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and the socially provided context information provides insight into an AAC user'"'"'s understanding of an object in a message content.

11. The method as claimed in claim 1, including:

carrying out linguistic analysis on the message content to identify objects, wherein objects are one or more of the group of;

words, phrases, number, attachments, images, or other content elements.

12. A system for socially provided context-based messaging, comprising:

a data processing system configured to execute a messaging client application at which a message content is received from a user, wherein the content includes objects;

a matching system provided in a messaging system for matching one or more objects of the message content to socially provided context information, wherein the socially provided context information is information relevant to an object obtained from a social network to which the user belongs; and

a receiving data processing system configured to execute a messaging client application displaying the socially provided context information with the message content for a recipient user to receive.

13. The system as claimed in claim 12, including access to a social network from which the socially provided context information is obtained provided by members of a social network to which the user providing the message content belongs.

14. The system as claimed in claim 12, wherein the matching systems include:

a filter component for filtering relationship meta-data linking an object and socially provided context information.

15. The system as claimed in claim 12, wherein the matching system includes an information receiving component for obtaining additional content information to matched to an object from a user'"'"'s devices.

16. The system as claimed in claim 12, including a database of the socially provided context information stored in relation to an object for future access.

17. The system as claimed in claim 12, including:

an additional relevant comments system for providing additional relevant comments relating to the socially provided context information, wherein the additional relevant comments provide further information on the context information viewable by a recipient of the message content with socially provided context information.

18. The system as claimed in claim 12, including:

a moderator system for moderating the socially provided context information.

19. The system as claimed in claim 12, wherein the moderator system includes a shadow information component for overlaying shadow information which a moderator considers more appropriate than the matched socially provided context information.

20. The system as claimed in claim 12, wherein the messaging system is provided for a user using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and the socially provided context information provides insight into an AAC user'"'"'s understanding of an object in a message content.

21. A computer program product for socially provided context-based messaging, the computer program product comprising:

a computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon program code that, when executed, configures a processor to perform executable operations comprising;

receiving a message content in a messaging system from a user, wherein the content includes objects;

matching one or more objects of the message content to socially provided context information, wherein the socially provided context information is information relevant to an object obtained from a social network to which the user belongs; and

displaying the socially provided context information with the message content for a recipient user to receive.

22. The computer program product as claimed in claim 21, wherein the socially provided context information is provided by members of a social network to which the user providing the message content belongs.

23. The computer program product as claimed in claim 21, wherein the computer-readable storage medium further stores thereon program code that, when executed, configures a processor to perform an executable operation comprising:

providing relationship meta-data linking an object and socially provided context information.

24. A system comprising:

a processor configured to initiate executable operations comprising;

receiving a message content in a messaging system from a user, wherein the content includes objects;

matching one or more objects of the message content to socially provided context information, wherein the socially provided context information is information relevant to an object obtained from a social network to which the user belongs; and

displaying the socially provided context information with the message content for a recipient user to receive.

25. The system of claim 24, wherein the socially provided context information is provided by members of a social network to which the user providing the message content belongs.
