1. An automotive stored vision system comprising:
- an automotive vehicle having a vehicle body and a driver seat;
a digital video recorder carried on the vehicle body remote from the driver seat;
a plurality of camera viewing eyes in spaced relation around the periphery of the vehicle and each fixedly secured to the vehicle body with an outwardly directed field of view;
the digital video recorder having a plurality of separate storage files;
a plurality of input-output cables coupling respective ones of the viewing eyes directly to correspondingly respective ones of the storage files; and
a power switch coupled to the DVR for energizing the DVR, input-output cables, and viewing eyes.

A method for the driver of an automotive vehicle to avoid distraction from the task of driving, but yet to preserve and later recover legal evidence of events, objects, or conditions that may be encountered during the driving of the vehicle, by utilizing a perimeter optical viewing system in conjunction with a central digital recording system to record and subsequently retrieve images of those events, objects, or conditions.

an automotive vehicle having a vehicle body and a driver seat; a digital video recorder carried on the vehicle body remote from the driver seat; a plurality of camera viewing eyes in spaced relation around the periphery of the vehicle and each fixedly secured to the vehicle body with an outwardly directed field of view; all of the viewing eyes being positioned at about the middle of the vertical height of the vehicle; the digital video recorder having a plurality of separate storage files; a plurality of input-output cables coupling respective ones of the viewing eyes directly to correspondingly respective ones of the storage files and without a direct connection to a viewing monitor for the driver; and a power switch coupled to the DVR for energizing the DVR, input-output cables, and viewing eyes. - View Dependent Claims (7)
