Abstract

Adjustable gas grill burners are disclosed. Methods of making and using adjustable gas grill burners are also disclosed.

Claims

21. An adjustable gas grill burner comprising:

a first tubular member having;

a first tubular wall,

a first tubular wall inner surface,

a first tubular wall outer surface,

a first tubular wall thickness extending from the first tubular wall inner surface to the first tubular wall outer surface,

a first tubular member first end operatively adapted to engage with a gas source, and

a first tubular member second end opposite the first tubular member first end, said first tubular member second end being open; and

a second tubular member having;

a second tubular wall,

a second tubular wall inner surface,

a second tubular wall outer surface,

a second tubular wall thickness extending from the second tubular wall inner surface to the second tubular wall outer surface,

a second tubular member first end movably engaged with said first tubular member second end, and

a second tubular member second end opposite the second tubular member first end, said second tubular member second end being closed;

wherein (i) said first tubular member, (ii) said second tubular member, or (iii) both said first tubular member and said second tubular member comprises two rows of aligned gas outlet holes extending through the first or second tubular wall thickness, each of said two rows of aligned gas outlet holes being positioned along opposite sides and along a length of said first or second tubular member, and

wherein said first tubular member and said second tubular member are movably engaged with one another so as to adjust (i) an overall length of said adjustable gas grill burner, and (ii) an overall number of gas outlets within each row of aligned gas outlet holes.

22. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 21, wherein said second tubular member comprises said two rows of aligned gas outlet holes along opposite sides and along a length of said second tubular member.

23. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 21, wherein said first tubular member comprises said two rows of aligned gas outlet holes along opposite sides and along a length of said first tubular member.

24. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 22, wherein said first tubular member comprises said two rows of aligned gas outlet holes along opposite sides and along a length of said first tubular member.

25. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 24, wherein at least a portion of said first tubular wall outer surface contacts at least a portion of said second tubular wall inner surface.

26. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 25, wherein said second tubular member second end comprises an attachment feature operatively adapted to attach to a grill so as to secure said second tubular member second end to the grill.

27. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 26, wherein said second tubular member second end comprises a hinge-like end piece attached thereto, said hinge-like end piece having thereon an attachment feature operatively adapted to attach to a grill so as to secure said second tubular member second end to the grill.

28. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 27, wherein said attachment feature comprises an opening sized so that at least a portion of a mounting screw fits within said opening.

29. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 25, wherein said first tubular member further comprises one or more rows of carry-over outlet holes.

30. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 25, wherein said second tubular member further comprises one or more rows of carry-over outlet holes.

31. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 29, wherein said second tubular member further comprises one or more rows of carry-over outlet holes.

32. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 25, wherein said first tubular member further comprises an adjustable air shutter operatively adapted to control air flow into said first tubular member proximate said first tubular member first end.

33. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 25, wherein said first tubular member has a neck portion along a length of said first tubular member, said neck portion having a cross-sectional area that is less than a cross-sectional area of said first tubular member along a majority of the length of said first tubular member.

The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 25, wherein said first tubular member has an insert positioned along and fixed to said first tubular wall inner surface, said insert having an insert cross-sectional area that is less than a cross-sectional area of said first tubular member along a majority of the length of said first tubular member.

The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 21, wherein said first tubular member has (i) a neck region extending from said first tubular member first end to a transition region along said first tubular member, said neck region having a substantially constant reduced cross-sectional flow area therethrough along any portion of said neck region, and (ii) a body region extending from said transition region to said first tubular member second end, said body region having a substantially constant maximum cross-sectional flow area therethrough along any portion of said body region.

36. An adjustable gas grill burner comprising:

a first tubular member having;

a first tubular wall,

a first tubular wall inner surface,

a first tubular wall outer surface,

a first tubular wall thickness extending from the first tubular wall inner surface to the first tubular wall outer surface,

a first tubular member first end operatively adapted to engage with a gas source, and

a first tubular member second end opposite the first tubular member first end, said first tubular member second end being open; and

a second tubular member having;

a second tubular wall,

a second tubular wall inner surface,

a second tubular wall outer surface,

a second tubular wall thickness extending from the second tubular wall inner surface to the second tubular wall outer surface,

a second tubular member first end movably engagable with said first tubular member second end, and

a second tubular member second end opposite the second tubular member first end, said second tubular member second end being closed;

wherein each of said first tubular member and said second tubular member comprises two rows of aligned gas outlet holes extending through the first and second tubular wall thicknesses, each of said two rows of aligned gas outlet holes being positioned along opposite sides and along a length of said first and second tubular members, and

wherein said first tubular member and said second tubular member are movably engagable with one another so as to adjust (i) an overall length of said adjustable gas grill burner, and (ii) an overall number of gas outlets within each row of aligned gas outlet holes.

37. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 36, wherein each of said first tubular member and said second tubular member further comprises one or more rows of carry-over outlet holes.

38. An adjustable gas grill burner comprising:

a first tubular member having;

a first tubular wall,

a first tubular wall inner surface,

a first tubular wall outer surface,

a first tubular wall thickness extending from the first tubular wall inner surface to the first tubular wall outer surface,

a first tubular member first end operatively adapted to engage with a gas source, and

a first tubular member second end opposite the first tubular member first end, said first tubular member second end being open; and

a second tubular member having;

a second tubular wall,

a second tubular wall inner surface,

a second tubular wall outer surface,

a second tubular wall thickness extending from the second tubular wall inner surface to the second tubular wall outer surface,

a second tubular member first end movably engaged with said first tubular member second end, and

a second tubular member second end opposite the second tubular member first end, said second tubular member second end being closed;

wherein each of said first tubular member and said second tubular member comprises two rows of aligned gas outlet holes extending through the first and second tubular wall thicknesses, each of said two rows of aligned gas outlet holes being positioned along opposite sides and along a length of said first and second tubular members, and

wherein said first tubular member and said second tubular member are movably engaged with one another so as to adjust (i) an overall length of said adjustable gas grill burner, and (ii) an overall number of gas outlets within each row of aligned gas outlet holes.

39. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 38, wherein said first tubular member further comprises one or more rows of carry-over outlet holes.

40. The adjustable gas grill burner of claim 38, wherein said second tubular member further comprises one or more rows of carry-over outlet holes.
