Abstract

The disclosed subject matter provides for received signal strength indicator (RSSI) snapshot analysis. RSSI snapshot analysis can be independent of determining location/map information. An RSSI snapshot can be analyzed in view of historic RSSI information to determine a probability that a local wireless resource correlated with the historical RSSI information is instantly available. Machine learning can be employed to train an inference component to facilitate in determining the probability. In an aspect, the state of a wireless radio can be controlled based on the probability and this can reduce the energy consumption of the user equipment by facilitating intelligent enablement of a wireless radio.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a capture component that receives signal strength indicator information associated with a user equipment;

a historical information component that receives historical signal strength indicator information; and

an analysis component that determines a probability that a wireless resource is available, the probability based on the signal strength indicator information and the historical signal strength indicator information.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the historical signal strength indicator information includes information relating to a historically available local wireless resource.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the signal strength indicator information comprises a plurality of signal strength indicators associated with a plurality of received radio frequency signals.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the historical signal strength indicator information comprises at least one set of historical signal strength indicators, the at least one set of historical signal strength indicators comprising a plurality of historical signal strength indicators associated with a plurality of historically received radio frequency signals.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the analysis component determines the probability based on a level of similarity between the signal strength indicator information and the at least one set of historical signal strength indicator information.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the analysis component determines the probability based on a level of similarity between the signal strength indicator information and the historical signal strength indicator information.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the probability is a probability that a historically available local wireless resource is presently available.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the analysis component further comprises a decision engine component that determines satisfaction of a predetermined condition relating to analysis of the signal strength indicator information and the historical signal strength indicator information.

9. The system of claim 8, further comprising a rule component that receives a rule associated with the signal strength indicator information and the historical signal strength indicator information.

10. The system of claim 1, further comprising an inference component that forms an inference relating to the probability that a historically available local wireless resource is presently available.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the inference component comprises a trained classifier.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein an enabled-disabled state of a wireless radio of the user equipment is selected based on the probability.

13. A method, comprising:

receiving signal strength indicator information associated with a user equipment;

receiving historical signal strength indicator information; and

determining a probability that a wireless resource is available, the probability based on the signal strength indicator information and the historical signal strength indicator information.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the determining the probability includes determining the probability based on a level of similarity between the signal strength indicator information and the historical signal strength indicator information.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein the receiving historical signal strength indicator information includes receiving information relating to a historically available local wireless resource.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the determining the probability includes determining a probability that the historically available local wireless resource is presently available.

17. The method of claim 13, wherein the determining the probability includes forming an inference relating to the historical signal strength indicator information.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising designating an enabled-disabled state for a wireless radio of the user equipment based on the probability.

19. A computer-readable storage medium comprising computer-executable instructions, that in response to execution, cause a computing system to perform operations, comprising:

receiving signal strength indicator information associated with a user equipment;

receiving historical signal strength indicator information including receiving information relating to a correlated historically available local wireless resource; and

determining a probability based on the signal strength indicator information and the historical signal strength indicator information, the probability related to the present availability of the correlated historically available local wireless resource.

20. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 19, further comprising receiving a control value related to state transition of a wireless radio of the user equipment and based on the probability.
