Abstract

A collision warning apparatus includes sensors, output devices, memory locations, a GPS device, and a processor. The processor may receive information from the sensors. The processor may also process the information to identify a detected object as a present potential collision object. The processor may compare present GPS coordinates of the vehicle with stored vehicle GPS coordinates saved in memory, to determine whether or not the present GPS coordinates correspond to stored vehicle GPS coordinates associated with a previously identified potential collision object. If the present GPS coordinates correspond to stored vehicle GPS coordinates associated with a previously identified potential collision object, the processor is operable to suppress a potential collision warning.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

wirelessly receiving a collision object identification from a first remote vehicle at a local server;

receiving information relating to the collision object identification;

storing the collision event warning and the information in a database of collision event warnings; and

sending the collision event warning and at least one piece of the one or more pieces of information to other remote vehicle systems to update the other remote systems.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the information includes a location.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the information

includes a validity state of the warning.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the information includes a vehicle heading.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the information includes a plurality of location coordinates leading up to detection of the collision object.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the other remote vehicle systems are proximate in location to location of a collision object associated with the collision object identification.

7. A computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a computer processor, causes the processor to perform the method comprising:

wirelessly receiving a collision object identification from a first remote vehicle at a local server;

receiving information relating to the collision object identification;

storing the collision event warning and the information in a database of collision event warnings; and

sending the collision event warning and at least one piece of the one or more pieces of information to other remote vehicle systems to update the other remote systems.

8. The computer readable storage medium of claim 7, wherein the information includes a location.

9. The computer readable storage medium of claim 7, wherein the information includes a validity state of the warning.

10. The computer readable storage medium of claim 7, wherein the information includes a vehicle heading.

11. The computer readable storage medium of claim 7, wherein the information includes a plurality of location coordinates leading up to detection of the collision object.

12. The computer readable storage medium of claim 7, wherein the other remote vehicle systems are proximate in location to location of a collision object associated with the collision object identification.

13. A system comprising:

a processor configured to;

wirelessly receive a collision object identification from a first remote vehicle at a local server;

receive information relating to the collision object identification;

store the collision event warning and the information in a database of collision event warnings; and

send the collision event warning and at least one piece of the one or more pieces of information to other remote vehicle systems to update the other remote systems.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the information includes a location.

15. The system of claim 13, wherein the information includes a validity state of the warning.

16. The system of claim 13, wherein the information includes a vehicle heading.

17. The system of claim 13, wherein the information includes a plurality of location coordinates leading up to detection of the collision object.

18. The system of claim 13, wherein the other remote vehicle systems are proximate in location to location of a collision object associated with the collision object identification.
