Abstract

Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for notification of alarms in security systems. An alarm is detected by an alarm controller, and an alarm message is sent to notify of the alarm. The alarm message identifies a unique network address assigned to the alarm controller. The alarm controller then receives a Voice-over Internet Protocol call to the unique network address to verify the alarm.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

detecting an alarm by an alarm controller of a security system;

sending an alarm message to notify of the alarm that identifies a unique network address assigned to the alarm controller; and

receiving a call to the unique network address at the alarm controller to verify the alarm.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein receiving the call comprises receiving a voice-over internet protocol call at the alarm controller.

3. The method according to claim 1, further comprising broadcasting the call from a base station in the alarm controller.

4. The method according to claim 3, further comprising establishing a wireless telephony connection between the base station and a portable handset.

5. The method according to claim 1, further comprising retrieving a notification address.

6. The method according to claim 5, further comprising sending an alarm notification to the notification address.

7. The method according to claim 1, further comprising retrieving a notification address from memory of the alarm controller.

8. The method according to claim 7, further comprising sending an alarm notification from the alarm controller to the notification address.

9. A system, comprising:

a processor executing code stored in memory that causes the processor to;

detect an alarm by an alarm controller of a security system;

send an alarm message over a wireless cellular network connection to notify of the alarm, the alarm message identifying a unique internet protocol network address assigned to the alarm controller; and

receive a voice-over internet protocol call to the unique internet protocol network address at the alarm controller to verify the alarm.

10. The system according to claim 9, further comprising code that causes the processor to broadcast the call from a base station in the alarm controller.

11. The system according to claim 9, further comprising code that causes the processor to establish a wireless telephony connection between the alarm controller and a portable handset.

12. The system according to claim 9, further comprising code that causes the processor to retrieve a notification address.

13. The system according to claim 12, further comprising code that causes the processor to send an alarm notification to the notification address.

14. The system according to claim 9, further comprising code that causes the processor to receive sensor data from a sensor.

15. The system according to claim 14, further comprising code that causes the processor to compare the sensor data to a threshold.

16. A computer readable medium storing processor executable instructions for performing a method, the method comprising:

detecting an alarm by an alarm controller of a security system;

sending an alarm message over a wireless cellular network connection to notify of the alarm, the alarm message identifying a unique internet protocol network address assigned to the alarm controller;

receiving a voice-over internet protocol call to the unique internet protocol network address at the alarm controller to verify the alarm; and

establishing a wireless telephony connection between the alarm controller and a portable handset.

17. The computer readable medium according to claim 16, further comprising instructions for broadcasting the call from a base station in the alarm controller.

18. The computer readable medium according to claim 17, further comprising instructions for receiving sensor data from a sensor.

19. The computer readable medium according to claim 16, further comprising instructions for retrieving a notification address.

20. The computer readable medium according to claim 19, further comprising instructions for sending an alarm notification to the notification address.
