Abstract

A touch-enabled device establishes a two-way connection with a computing device through a network. The computing device has a content authoring program stored therein. Further, the touch-enabled device displays a navigation menu. In addition, the touch-enabled device receives an input indicating a selected item from the navigation menu. The touch-enabled device sends the selected item to the computing device such that the computing device utilizes the selected item in the content authoring program. Further, the touch-enabled device receives, from the computing device, an indication that the computing device is utilizing the selected item in the content authoring program.

Claims

1. A computer program product comprising a computer useable medium having a computer readable program, wherein the computer readable program when executed on a touch-enabled device causes the touch-enabled device to:

establish, from the touch-enabled device, a two-way connection with a computing device through a network, the computing device having a content authoring program stored therein;

display, at the touch-enabled device, a navigation menu;

receive, at the touch-enabled device, an input indicating a selected item from the navigation menu;

send, from the touch-enabled device, the selected item to the computing device such that the computing device utilizes the selected item in the content authoring program; and

receive, at the touch-enabled device from the computing device, an indication that the computing device is utilizing the selected item in the content authoring program.

2. The computer program product of claim 1, wherein the selected item is a command that is performed by the content authoring program.

3. The computer program product of claim 2, wherein the command is selected from the group consisting of changing a color in the content authoring program, changing a tool in a toolbar in the content authoring program, and selecting an image in the content authoring program.

4. The computer program product of claim 2, wherein the computer readable program when executed on the touch-enabled device further causes the touch-enabled device to receive a result of the command performed by the content authoring program through the network.

5. The computer program product of claim 4, wherein the computer readable program when executed on the touch-enabled device further causes the touch-enabled device to cache the result such that the touch-enabled device retains the result if the two-way connection is disconnected.

6. The computer program product of claim 1, wherein the touch-enabled device receives, from the computing device, data associated with a file.

7. The computer program product of claim 1, wherein the selected item is a customized tool box.

8. The computer program product of claim 1, wherein the touch-enabled device is a client and the computing device is a server.

14. The method of claim 8, wherein the touch-enabled device is a client and the computing device is a server.

9. A method comprising

establishing, from a touch-enabled device, a two-way connection with a computing device through a network, the computing device having a content authoring program stored therein;

displaying, at the touch-enabled device, a navigation menu;

receiving, at the touch-enabled device, an input indicating a selected item from the navigation menu;

sending, from the touch-enabled device, the selected item to the computing device such that the computing device utilizes the selected item in the content authoring program; and

receiving, at the touch-enabled device from the computing device, an indication that the computing device is utilizing the selected item in the content authoring program.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the selected item is a command that is performed by the content authoring program.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the command is selected from the group consisting of changing a color in the content authoring program, changing a tool in a toolbar in the content authoring program, and selecting an image in the content authoring program.

12. The method of claim 10, further comprising receiving a result of the command performed by the content authoring program through the network.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising caching the result such that the touch-enabled device retains the result if the two-way connection is disconnected.

15. A system comprising:

an establishment module that establishes, from a touch-enabled device, a two-way connection with a computing device through a network, the computing device having a content authoring program stored therein;

a graphical user interface that displays, at the touch-enabled device, a navigation menu;

an input module that receives, at the touch-enabled device, an input indicating a selected item from the navigation menu;

a transmission module that sends, from the touch-enabled device, the selected item to the computing device such that the computing device utilizes the selected item in the content authoring program; and

a reception module that receives, at the touch-enabled device from the computing device, an indication that the computing device is utilizing the selected item in the content authoring program.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the selected item is a command that is performed by the content authoring program.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein the command is selected from the group consisting of changing a color in the content authoring program, changing a tool in a toolbar in the content authoring program, and selecting an image in the content authoring program.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the reception module also receives a result of the command performed by the content authoring program through the network.

19. The system of claim 18, wherein the touch-enabled device caches the result such that the touch-enabled device retains the result if the two-way connection is disconnected.

20. The system of claim 15, wherein the network is selected from the group consisting of a wireless network and a wireline network.
