Abstract

A power providing system for an electrical device includes a secondary inductor, wired to the electrical device, for inductively coupling with a primary inductor hardwired to a power supply. The secondary inductor is incorporated into an accessory of the electrical device.

Claims

1. A power providing means for a portable computer comprising:

a secondary coil wired to the portable computer for bringing into proximity with a primary coil hardwired to a mains power supply, to form an inductive power couple thereby.

2. The power providing means of claim 1, wherein the secondary coil is integral to the portable computer.

3. The power providing means of claim 1, wherein the secondary coil is couplable to the portable computer via a dedicated jack designed for coupling the secondary coil.

4. The power providing means of claim 1, wherein the secondary coil is retrofittable to the portable computer.

5. The power providing means of claim 4, wherein the secondary coil is coupled to the portable computer via a power jack socket for coupling to a mains via a power supply.

6. The power providing means of claim 4, wherein the secondary coil is coupled to the portable computer via the connecting points for coupling to a rechargeable electrochemical power pack.

7. The power providing means of claim 1 wherein the secondary coil is built into lower surface of casing of the computer.

8. The power providing means of claim 1 wherein the secondary coil is coupled by a two stripe multi-fiber insulated wire to the computer.

9. The power providing means of claim 8 wherein the secondary coil is built into base of a carrying case for carrying the portable computer therein.

10. The power providing means of claim 8 wherein the secondary coil is built into a soft case for carrying the portable computer.

11. The power providing means of claim 8 wherein the secondary coil is built into a shoulder strap of a soft case for carrying the portable computer.

12. The power providing means of claim 8 wherein the secondary coil is built into a carrying handle of a soft case for carrying the portable computer.

13. The power providing means of claim 8 wherein the secondary coil is built into a carrying handle retrofittable to the portable computer.

14. The power providing means of claim 8 wherein the secondary coil is built into a fashion-tag attached to the portable computer.

15. A power providing means for a mobile communication device comprising:

a secondary coil wired to the mobile communication device for bringing into proximity with a primary coil hardwired to a mains power supply, to form an inductive power couple thereby.

16. The power providing means of claim 15, wherein the mobile communication device is selected from a group consisting of:

portable computers, handheld computers, personal digital assistants, mobile telephones, vehicle mounted computers and media players.

17. The power providing means of claim 15, wherein the secondary coil is integral to the mobile communication device.

18. The power providing means of claim 15, wherein the secondary coil is couplable to the mobile communication device via a dedicated jack for coupling the secondary coil.

19. The power providing means of claim 15, wherein the secondary coil is retrofittable to the mobile communication device.

20. The power providing means of claim 19 wherein the secondary coil is built into a carrying case for carrying the mobile communication device therein.
