Abstract

A system, method, and apparatus are disclosed. In particular, a Point of View (POV) video mounting system described herein includes a casing assembly operable to fit an electronic device therein. The electronic device has video and data recording and display capability. In addition, a POV video mounting system includes a mounting assembly coupled to the casing assembly and operable to mount the POV video mounting system to sports equipment.

Claims

1. An apparatus, comprising:

a casing sleeve operable to fit an electronic device therein wherein said electronic device has video recording and video display capability; and

a mounting assembly coupled to said casing sleeve and operable to mount said apparatus to sports equipment.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a sled component operable to fit within said casing sleeve wherein said sled component reduces an amount of vibration experienced by said electronic device when said apparatus is in use.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said casing sleeve includes an door operable to secure an electronic device therein.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said casing sleeve includes a transparent portion such that a display portion of an electronic device is visible from outside of said casing sleeve when said electronic device is inserted therein.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said mounting assembly includes an adhesive component operable to affix said mounting assembly to said sports equipment.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said mounting assembly includes at least one opening operable to enable a mechanism for affixing said mounting assembly to said sports equipment.

7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said casing sleeve includes a scratch resistant portion.

8. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said casing sleeve is water-proof.

9. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said electronic device further includes performance metric data recording and display capabilities.

10. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said electronic device is any of a smart-phone and a portable music player.

11. A point of view video mounting system, comprising:

a casing sleeve having a transparent portion wherein said casing sleeve includes a first opening wherein said casing sleeve includes an door proximate to said first opening wherein said door includes a locking mechanism coupled to said door and operable to secure said electronic device within said casing sleeve;

a smart-phone device having video and performance metrics data recording and display capability disposed within said casing sleeve;

a sled component operable to fit within said casing sleeve adjacent to said electronic device wherein said sled component reduces an amount of vibration experienced by said electronic device when said point of view video mounting system is in operation; and

a mounting assembly coupled to a connection component of said casing sleeve wherein said mounting assembly includes a quick release component suspended from said connection component and a substantially flat base component coupled to said quick release component wherein said substantially flat base component is mountable to sports equipment.

12. The point of view video mounting system of claim 11, wherein said mounting assembly includes a foam tape adhesive disposed on a bottom portion of said substantially flat base component.

13. The point of view video mounting system of claim 11, wherein said door includes an opening for a wide area lens to be assembled therein.

14. The point of view video mounting system of claim 11, wherein said casing sleeve includes a touch screen membrane operable to allow a user to activate functions on said smart-phone.

15. The point of view video mounting system of claim 15, wherein said touch screen membrane includes a transparent portion operable to allow one to view a display portion on said electronic device.

16. A method, comprising:

affixing a mounting assembly to sports equipment;

coupling said mounting assembly to a casing sleeve; and

inserting an electronic device having video recording and display capabilities in said casing sleeve.

17. The method of claim 16 further comprising latching a door component of said casing sleeve to secure said electronic device within said casing sleeve.

18. The method of claim 16 further comprising setting the casing sleeve to a desired angle relative to said sports equipment.

19. The method of claim 18 further comprising adjusting a lever of said mounting assembly to a locking position to maintain said desired angle of said casing sleeve relative to said sports equipment.

20. The method of claim 16 wherein said electronic device further includes data recording and display capabilities.
