Abstract

The invention relates to a shin guard system for sporting activities that comprises a shin guard portion and a reusable elastic rash preventing insert attached thereto.

Claims

1. A shin guard system for sporting activities comprising:

a shin guard portion comprising an impact absorbing layer, a backing layer, and an elastic leg strap for securing the shin guard portion to a player'"'"'s leg, and

a reusable elastic rash preventing insert secured to the backing layer of the shin guard portion via attachment means, wherein the attachment means secure the reusable elastic rash preventing insert at or near the longitudinal edges of the backing layer.

2. The shin guard system as recited in claim 1, wherein the reusable elastic rash preventing insert comprises one or more layers formed of a nylon/elastane blend comprising 75-95% nylon and 5-25% elastane.

3. The shin guard system as recited in claim 1, wherein the reusable elastic rash preventing insert comprises one or more layers formed of a nylon/elastane/polyester blend comprising 60-75% nylon, 10-20% elastane, and 15-30% polyester.

4. The shin guard system as recited in claim 1, wherein the reusable elastic rash preventing insert comprises one or more layers formed of 100% polyester.

5. The shin guard system as recited in claim 1, wherein the reusable elastic rash preventing insert is impregnated with a lotion or powder with moisturizing and/or antihistaminic properties.

6. The shin guard system as recited in claim 1, wherein the shin guard portion additionally comprises an integrated ankle protector.

7. The shin guard system as recited in claim 1, wherein the attachment means secure the elastic rash preventing insert only at or near the longitudinal edges of the backing layer.

8. The shin guard system as recited in claim 1, wherein the width of the reusable elastic rash preventing insert is about equal to the width of the backing layer of the shin guard portion.

9. A shin guard system for sporting activities comprising:

a shin guard portion comprising an impact absorbing layer and a backing layer, and

a reusable elastic rash preventing insert secured to the backing layer of the shin guard portion via attachment means, wherein the width of the reusable elastic rash preventing insert is about equal to the width of the backing layer of the shin guard portion, and wherein the attachment means secure the elastic rash preventing insert only at or near the longitudinal edges of the backing layer.

10. The shin guard system as recited in claim 9, wherein the reusable elastic rash preventing insert comprises one or more layers formed of a nylon/elastane blend comprising 75-95% nylon and 5-25% elastane.

11. The shin guard system as recited in claim 9, wherein the reusable elastic rash preventing insert comprises one or more layers formed of a nylon/elastane/polyester blend comprising 60-75% nylon, 10-20% elastane, and 15-30% polyester.

12. The shin guard system as recited in claim 9, wherein the reusable elastic rash preventing insert comprises one or more layers formed of 100% polyester.

13. The shin guard system as recited in claim 9, wherein the reusable elastic rash preventing insert is impregnated with a lotion or powder with moisturizing and/or antihistaminic properties.

14. The shin guard system as recited in claim 9, wherein the shin guard portion comprises an elastic leg strap for securing the shin guard portion to a player'"'"'s leg.

15. A rash preventing construction for use with shin guards comprising:

a reusable elastic rash preventing insert, wherein the reusable elastic rash preventing insert comprises one or more layers of a uniform material construction, and wherein the width of the reusable elastic rash preventing insert is less than the length of the reusable elastic rash preventing insert,

attachment means secured to the reusable elastic rash preventing insert for attaching the reusable elastic rash preventing insert to a back surface of a shin guard prior to a game or match,

wherein the width of the reusable elastic rash preventing insert is about equal to the width of the back surface of the shin guard,

wherein the attachment means are secured to the reusable elastic rash preventing insert only in the vicinity of the longitudinal edges of the reusable elastic rash preventing insert,

and wherein the reusable elastic rash preventing insert is detachable from the back surface of the shin guard after the game or match.

16. The rash preventing construction as recited in claim 15, wherein the uniform material construction of the reusable elastic rash preventing insert is a nylon/elastane blend comprising 75-95% nylon and 5-25% elastane.

17. The rash preventing construction as recited in claim 15, wherein the uniform material construction of the reusable elastic rash preventing insert is a nylon/elastane/polyester blend comprising 60-75% nylon, 10-20% elastane, and 15-30% polyester.

18. The rash preventing construction as recited in claim 15, wherein the uniform material construction of the reusable elastic rash preventing insert is 100% polyester.

19. The rash preventing construction as recited in claim 15, wherein the attachment means is a hook and loop fastening system.

20. The rash preventing construction as recited in claim 15, wherein the reusable elastic rash preventing insert is impregnated with a lotion or powder with moisturizing and/or antihistaminic properties.
