Abstract

A rich communication profile system with notifications. The system is a feedback mechanism that utilizes rich content, e.g., multimedia content, as one or more indicators that represent the status of a remote user. The system includes a state component that receives information relating to state of at least one entity. A notifications component dynamically renders at least one personalized graphical indicia representative of the entity'"'"'s state. The entity can be a person, group of people, component, place, and object.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

a state component configured to receive information relating to a state of at least one entity, an entity being an individual or group of individuals;

a visualization component configured to present at least one profile associated with the at least one entity;

a profile management component configured to facilitate management of the at least one profile; and

a notifications component configured to dynamically render at least one user selected graphical indicium representative of the state of the at least one entity.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the visualization component is further configured to facilitate the presentation of the at least one profile in a thumbnail view on a periphery of a display.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the visualization component is further configured to present data representative of notification, time passage, or state indicators.

4. The system of claim 1, further comprising a profile editing component configured to facilitate entry of new status data by an owner of the at least one profile by at least one of creating and annotating a picture, or posting an audio and/or video file.

5. The system of claim 1, further comprising a profile editing component configured to facilitate a user other than an owner of the at least one profile to provide feedback about the at least one profile to the owner by at least one of entering text, audio data, a comment, or annotations to the at least one profile.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the profile management component is further configured to facilitate allowing an owner of the at least one profile to provide access to the at least one profile by at least one other user.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the profile management component is further configured to facilitate allowing a user to at least one of subscribe to another profile, add a profile, or remove a profile.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the profile management component is further configured to facilitate caching of images and usage statistical data.

9. The system of claim 1, further comprising a communications component configured to facilitate communication with another rich profile system via at least one of a web communication mechanism, web broadcasting, peer-to-peer communications, a messenger-type service, e-mail, or telephone.

10. The system of claim 1, further comprising a communications component configured to facilitate posting and propagation of profile changes in real-time to another system that subscribes to the at least one profile.

11. The system of claim 1, the at least one user selected graphical indicium is configured to be rendered as a function of one of a type of recipient or a type of device.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein the profile management component is further configured to facilitate at least one of generation, migration, or sharing of the at least one profile.

13. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one user selected graphical indicium includes at least one of animation, a picture, a music file, text, or a slide show of text and/or images.

14. The system of claim 1, wherein the system is implemented in accordance with at least one of an instant messaging technology, a web log system, an RSS feed technology, or a peer-to-peer topology.

15. One or more computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions that instruct a processor to perform actions comprising:

receiving state information associated with a state of at least one entity, an entity being an individual or group of individuals;

generating at least one profile associated with the at least one entity;

updating the at least one profile in real-time based upon the state of the at least one entity;

dynamically rendering at least one user selected graphical indicium representative of the state of the at least one entity to the at least one entity and to a subscriber.

16. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 15, wherein the actions further comprise requesting comments related to the at least one profile from the subscriber.

17. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 15, wherein the actions further comprise accessing a subscriber profile of the subscriber and editing the subscriber profile.

18. A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving, by one or more processors, state information associated with a state of at least one entity, an entity being an individual or group of individuals;

dynamically rendering at least one user selected graphical indicium representative of the state of the at least one entity;

notifying a subscriber of the at least one user selected graphical indicium; and

presenting the at least one user selected graphical indicium to a user.

19. The computer-implemented method of claim 18, further comprising accessing a subscriber profile of the subscriber and editing the subscriber profile.

20. The computer-implemented method of claim 18, further comprising:

generating at least one profile associated with the at least one entity; and

updating the at least one profile in real-time based upon the state of the at least one entity.
