Abstract

A method for translating content includes providing a plurality of content on a user device. The plurality of content is associated with a first region display mode. The plurality of content is displayed on the user device in the first region display mode. A predefined orientation is then detected in the user device. The plurality of content is then translated according to a second region display mode to produce a plurality of translated content. The plurality of translated content is then displayed on the user device. In different embodiments, the plurality of content may have been previously provided on the user device, may be retrieved over a network by the user device, or my be received through a user interface on the user device. A specific embodiment allows a user to rotate the user device 180 degrees to quickly and easily translate text displayed on the user device.

Claims

1. A method for translating content, comprising:

providing a plurality of content on a user device, wherein the plurality of content is associated with a first region display mode;

displaying the plurality of content on the user device in the first region display mode;

detecting a predefined orientation of the user device and, in response, translating the plurality of content according to a second region display mode to produce a plurality of translated content; and

displaying the plurality of translated content on the user device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first region display mode displays the plurality of content in a first language, and wherein the second region display mode displays the plurality of content in a second language to display the plurality of translated content.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the translating the plurality of content according to the second region display mode is performed in response to determining that the second region display mode is associated with the predefined orientation.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the determining that the second region display mode is associated with the predefined orientation includes using a location determination device to determine a current location of the user device in response to detecting a predefined orientation, wherein the second region display mode is associated with the current location.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the first region display mode displays the plurality of content in a first currency, and wherein the second region display mode displays the plurality of content in a second currency to display the plurality of translated content.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the providing the plurality of content on the user device includes retrieving the plurality of content over a network.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the providing the plurality of content on the user device includes receiving the plurality of content through a user interface on the user device.

8. A non-transitory machine readable medium comprising a plurality of machine-readable instruction which, when executed by one or more processors, are adapted to cause the one or more processors to perform a method comprising:

providing a plurality of content on a user device, wherein the plurality of content is associated with a first region display mode;

displaying the plurality of content on the user device in the first region display mode;

detecting a predefined orientation of the user device and, in response, translating the plurality of content according to a second region display mode to produce a plurality of translated content; and

displaying the plurality of translated content on the user device.

9. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the first region display mode displays the plurality of content in a first language, and wherein the second region display mode displays the plurality of content in a second language to display the plurality of translated content.

10. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the translating the plurality of content according to the second region display mode is performed in response to determining that the second region display mode is associated with the predefined orientation.

11. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 10, wherein the determining that the second region display mode is associated with the predefined orientation includes using a location determination device to determine a current location of the user device in response to detecting a predefined orientation, wherein the second region display mode is associated with the current location.

12. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the first region display mode displays the plurality of content in a first currency, and wherein the second region display mode displays the plurality of content in a second currency to display the plurality of translated content.

13. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the providing the plurality of content on the user device includes retrieving the plurality of content over a network.

14. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the providing the plurality of content on the user device includes receiving the plurality of content through a user interface on the user device.

15. A translation system, comprising:

means for providing a plurality of content, wherein the plurality of content is associated with a first region display mode;

means displaying the plurality of content in the first region display mode;

means for detecting a predefined orientation and, in response, translating the plurality of content according to a second region display mode to produce a plurality of translated content; and

means for displaying the plurality of translated content.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the first region display mode displays the plurality of content in a first language, and wherein the second region display mode displays the plurality of content in a second language to display the plurality of translated content.

17. The system of claim 15, further comprising:

means for determining that the second region display mode is associated with the predefined orientation, wherein the translating the plurality of content according to the second region display mode is performed in response to determining that the second region display mode is associated with the predefined orientation.

18. The system of claim 17, further comprising:

means for determining a current location that is associated with the second region display mode, wherein the determining that the second region display mode is associated with the predefined orientation includes determining the current location in response to detecting the predefined orientation.

19. The system of claim 15, wherein the first region display mode displays the plurality of content in a first currency, and wherein the second region display mode displays the plurality of content in a second currency to display the plurality of translated content.

20. The system of claim 15, wherein the providing the plurality of content on the user device includes retrieving the plurality of content over a network or receiving the content from a user.
