Abstract

Location information may be gathered, managed, stored, and/or otherwise utilized to determine unique geo-referenced locations. The geo-referenced locations may be utilized to inform various processes and decisions such as insurance underwriting, risk assessment, pricing, and risk/loss control.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

gathering, by a processing device and with respect to a plurality of locations, information descriptive of (i) street address data, and (ii) land polygon data;

storing, by the processing device and in a database device, information defining a data storage relationship between the street address data and the land polygon data; and

determining, by the processing device and based on the defined data storage relationship, which of the plurality of locations are at least one of;

(1) located on the same land polygon, and (2) located in the same building.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein one or more of the plurality of locations is associated with a customer of an insurance company.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the gathering comprises:

receiving, by the processing device and from a street address data source, the street address data;

processing, by the processing device, the street address data at least by standardizing the format of the street address data; and

storing, by the processing device and in the database device, the standardized street address data.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining, by the processing device, the data storage relationship between the street address data and the land polygon data.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the determining of the data storage relationship between the street address data and the land polygon data, comprises:

identifying an address from the street address data;

identifying a land polygon from the land polygon data, wherein the land polygon is associated with a range of street addresses that comprise the identified street address.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the gathering further comprises gathering structure data for at least one of the plurality of locations and wherein the storing further comprises storing, in the database device, information defining a data storage relationship between the land polygon data and the structure data.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

determining, by the processing device, the data storage relationship between the land polygon data and the structure data.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the determining of the data storage relationship between the land polygon data and the structure data, comprises:

identifying a structure from the structure data;

identifying coordinate data descriptive of the structure; and

identifying a land polygon from the land polygon data, wherein the land polygon is associated with at least a portion of the coordinate data descriptive of the structure.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the determining of the data storage relationship between the land polygon data and the structure data, comprises:

identifying a land polygon from the land polygon data;

identifying coordinate data descriptive of the land polygon; and

identifying a structure from the structure data, wherein the structure is associated with at least a portion of the coordinate data descriptive of the land polygon.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the gathering further comprises gathering coordinate data for at least one of the plurality of locations and wherein the storing further comprises storing, in the database device, information defining a data storage relationship between the land polygon data and the coordinate data.

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

determining, by the processing device, the data storage relationship between the land polygon data and the coordinate data.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the determining of the data storage relationship between the land polygon data and the coordinate data, comprises:

determining a coordinate descriptive of a land polygon from the land polygon data; and

identifying a subset of the coordinate data that corresponds to the coordinate descriptive of the land polygon.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the coordinate descriptive of the land polygon comprises one or more of a land polygon centroid coordinate and a land polygon vertex coordinate.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein the gathering further comprises gathering structure data and coordinate data for at least one of the plurality of locations and wherein the storing further comprises storing, in the database device, information defining a data storage relationship between the structure data and the coordinate data.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

determining, by the processing device, the data storage relationship between the structure data and the coordinate data.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the determining of the data storage relationship between the structure data and the coordinate data, comprises:

determining a coordinate descriptive of a structure from the structure data; and

identifying a subset of the coordinate data that corresponds to the coordinate descriptive of the structure.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the coordinate descriptive of the structure comprises one or more of a structure centroid coordinate and a structure vertex coordinate.

18. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining, by the processing device and based on the defined data storage relationship, an existing amount of insurance exposure for a particular land polygon from the land polygon data.

19. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining, by the processing device and based on the defined data storage relationship, whether to offer an underwriting product to a potential customer.

20. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying, by the processing device and based on the defined data storage relationship, one or more potential customers that are located within the same land polygon as one or more existing customers.

21. A method, comprising:

gathering, by a processing device and with respect to a plurality of locations, information descriptive of (i) street address data, and at least one of;

(ii) land polygon data, (iii) structure data, and (iv) coordinate data; and

storing, by the processing device and in a database device, information defining data storage relationships between at least one of (a) the street address data and the land polygon data, (b) the land polygon data and the structure data, and one or more of (c) the land polygon data and the coordinate data, and (d) the structure data and the coordinate data.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein one or more of the plurality of locations is associated with a customer of an insurance company.

23. The method of claim 21, wherein the gathering comprises:

receiving, by the processing device and from a street address data source, the street address data;

processing, by the processing device, the street address data at least by standardizing the format of the street address data; and

storing, by the processing device and in the database device, the standardized street address data.

24. The method of claim 21, further comprising:

determining, by the processing device, the data storage relationships between the at least one of (a) the street address data and the land polygon data, (b) the land polygon data and the structure data, and the one or more of (c) the land polygon data and the coordinate data, and (d) the structure data and the coordinate data.

25. The method of claim 24, wherein the determining of the data storage relationship between the street address data and the land polygon data, comprises:

identifying an address from the street address data;

identifying a land polygon from the land polygon data, wherein the land polygon is associated with a range of street addresses that comprise the identified street address.
