Abstract

Disclosed herein is a method and system for utilizing a digital data capture device in conjunction with a Bluetooth (BT) enabled mobile device for publishing data and multimedia content on one or more websites automatically or with minimal user intervention. A client application is provided on the BT enabled mobile device. In the absence of inbuilt BT capability, a BT communication device is provided on the digital data capture device. The BT communication device is paired with the BT enabled mobile device to establish a connection. The client application detects capture of data and multimedia content on the digital data capture device and initiates transfer of the captured data, multimedia content, and associated files. The digital data capture device transfers the captured data, multimedia content, and the associated files to the client application. The client application automatically publishes the transferred data and multimedia content on one or more websites.

Claims

1. A method for acquiring and transferring data from a Bluetooth enabled data capture device to one or more web services via a Bluetooth enabled mobile device, the method comprising:

providing a software module on the Bluetooth enabled data capture device;

providing a software module on the Bluetooth enabled mobile device;

establishing a pairing between the Bluetooth enabled data capture device and the Bluetooth enabled mobile device;

acquiring data in the Bluetooth enabled data capture device;

transferring the data acquired in the Bluetooth enabled data capture device to the Bluetooth enabled mobile device using an available data transfer protocol, wherein the available data transfer protocol comprises one of (i) a direct transfer protocol, or (ii) a segmented transfer protocol that is used in part due to present data size and data transfer capabilities;

receiving, at the mobile device, data from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device; and

transferring one or more portions of the data received by the Bluetooth enabled mobile device to the one or more web services without waiting for additional data to arrive from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein transferring the data further comprises:

configuring the data so that the data can be received and stored in its entirety by the Bluetooth enabled mobile device before the Bluetooth enabled mobile device sends the data to the one or more web services.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein transferring the data further comprises:

configuring the data so that one or more portions of the data can be received by the Bluetooth enabled mobile device and forwarded to the one or more web services.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the one or more portions of the data comprise a multimedia object.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein transferring the data acquired in the Bluetooth enabled data capture device to the Bluetooth enabled mobile device using a data transfer protocol further comprises:

segmenting the data into data segments if the segmented transfer protocol is used.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

providing, at the Bluetooth enabled data capture device, a destination for the data being transferred from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device to the Bluetooth enabled mobile device, wherein the destination is the Bluetooth enabled mobile device.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

providing, at the Bluetooth enabled data capture device, one or more destinations for the data being transferred from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device to the Bluetooth enabled mobile device, wherein the one or more destinations are the one or more web services.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

configuring the data so that it can be received by the one or more web services, and reassembled if the segmented transfer protocol is used.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein Bluetooth capability is provided internally in the Bluetooth enabled data capture device.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein Bluetooth capability is provided to the Bluetooth enabled data capture device by an external Bluetooth module.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the data acquired in the Bluetooth enabled data capture device is captured data.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the captured data comprises one or more of audio data, video data, image data, text data, or digital data.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the data acquired in the Bluetooth enabled data capture device is data associated with captured data.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein transferring the data from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device to the Bluetooth enabled mobile device further comprises:

detecting the existence of the acquired data on the Bluetooth enabled data capture device, wherein detecting and transferring is initiated by the Bluetooth enable mobile device.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein transferring the data from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device to the Bluetooth enabled mobile device further comprises:

detecting the existence of the acquired data on the Bluetooth enabled data capture device, wherein detecting and transferring is initiated by the Bluetooth enable data capture device.

16. A method for acquiring and transferring data from a Bluetooth enabled data capture device to one or more web services via a Bluetooth enabled mobile device, the method comprising:

providing a software module on the Bluetooth enabled data capture device;

providing a software module on the Bluetooth enabled mobile device;

establishing a pairing between the Bluetooth enabled data capture device and the Bluetooth enabled mobile device;

acquiring data in the Bluetooth enabled data capture device;

transferring the data from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device to the Bluetooth enabled mobile device;

receiving, at the Bluetooth enabled mobile device, data from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device; and

transferring the data received by the Bluetooth enabled mobile device to the one or more web services using an available data transfer protocol, wherein the available data transfer protocol comprises one of (i) a direct transfer protocol, or (ii) a segmented transfer protocol that is used in part due to present data size and data transfer capabilities.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the data received by the Bluetooth enabled mobile device comprises one or more of audio data, video data, image data, text data, or digital data.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein the data transferred from the Bluetooth enabled mobile device to one or more web services is received data.

19. The method of claim 16, wherein the data transferred from the Bluetooth enabled mobile device to one or more web services is data associated with received data.

20. The method of claim 16, wherein Bluetooth capability is provided internally in the Bluetooth enabled data capture device.

21. The method of claim 16, wherein Bluetooth capability is provided to the Bluetooth enabled data capture device by an external Bluetooth module.

22. The method of claim 16, wherein transferring the data further comprises:

configuring the data received at the Bluetooth enabled mobile device, from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device, so that it can be received by the one or more web services, and reassembled if the segmented transfer protocol is used.

23. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

providing one or more destinations for the data being transferred from the Bluetooth enabled mobile device to the one or more web services, wherein the one or more destinations are the one or more web services.

24. The method of claim 16, wherein transferring the data received at the Bluetooth enabled mobile device to the one or more web services using a data transfer protocol further comprises:

segmenting the data received at the Bluetooth enabled mobile device into data segments and using segment identifiers if the segmented transfer protocol is used.

25. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

storing the data received from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device in a memory of the Bluetooth enabled mobile device until the entirety of data sent by the Bluetooth enabled data capture device has been stored; and

sending the data stored in the memory of the Bluetooth enabled mobile device to the one or more web services.

26. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

forwarding data received from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device to the one or more web services without waiting to receive additional data from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device.

27. The method of claim 16, wherein transferring the data from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device to the Bluetooth enabled mobile device further comprises:

detecting the existence of the acquired data on the data capture device, wherein detecting and transferring is initiated by the Bluetooth enable mobile device.

28. The method of claim 16, wherein transferring the data from the Bluetooth enabled data capture device to the Bluetooth enabled mobile device further comprises:

detecting the existence of the acquired data on the data capture device, wherein detecting and transferring is initiated by the Bluetooth enable data capture device.
