Abstract

A server receives from a mobile communication device application data identifying a data object accessible by the mobile communication device. The server uses at least some of the application data to assess the data object. The application data can include, for example, behavioral data, metadata, parts of the data object, information indicating the data object is installed on the mobile communication device, or combinations of these.

Claims

1. A method for obtaining an assessment about at least one data objects accessible by at least one mobile communication device, the method comprising:

receiving application data at a server from a first mobile communication device of a plurality of mobile communication devices, the server configured to authenticate the first mobile communication device, the application data identifying a data object accessible by the first mobile communication device, the server further configured to use at least a portion of the application data received from the first mobile communication device to perform an analysis to obtain an assessment of the at least one data object; and

,

storing at least a portion of the application data received from the first mobile communication device on a data store accessible by the server such that the stored data is associated with the first mobile communication device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the application data includes behavioral data for the at least one data object.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the application data includes metadata for the at least one data object.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the application data includes at least a portion of the at least one data object.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the application data indicates that the at least one data object is installed on the first mobile communication device.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the application data indicates that the at least one data object is uninstalled from the first mobile communication device.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein before receiving application data from the first mobile communication device, requesting, by the server, the application data from the first mobile communication device.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

authenticating the first mobile communication device by the server.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving application data at a server from a second mobile communication device of the plurality of mobile communication devices, the server configured to authenticate the second mobile communication device, the application data identifying a data object accessible by the second mobile communication device, the server further configured to use at least a portion of the application data to perform an analysis to obtain an assessment of the data object; and

,

storing at least a portion of the application data received from the second mobile communication device on a data store accessible by the server such that the stored application data is associated with the second mobile communication device.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein an operating system for the first mobile communication device is different from an operating system for the second mobile communication device.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the at least one data object identified by the application data from the first mobile communication device is different from the data object identified by the application data from the second mobile communication device.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the at least one data object identified by the application data from the first mobile communication device is the same as the data object identified by the application data from the second mobile communication device.

13. The method of claim 9, wherein before receiving application data from the first mobile communication device, requesting, by the server, the application data from the second mobile communication device.
