Abstract

In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method executable by a multi-tenant server system to manage a project is provided. The method includes receiving user input data indicating project data that includes at least one of project information, task information, and details information associated with the project; associating tenant-specific metadata with the project data; and storing the project data and the associated tenant-specific metadata in a project data datastore.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method executable by a multi-tenant server system to manage a project, the method comprising:

receiving user input data indicating project data that includes at least one of project information, task information, and details information associated with the project;

associating tenant-specific metadata with the project data; and

storing the project data and the associated tenant-specific metadata in a project data datastore.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising identifying at least one of a critical task and a critical path based on the project data, and wherein the storing comprises storing the project data as at least one of a task template and a project template based on the at least one of the critical task and the critical path.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 2, further comprising:

removing at least one of tenant-specific metadata and tenant-specific data from the at least one of the critical task and the critical path; and

in response to the removing, storing the at least one of the critical task and the critical path as the at least one of the task template and the project template in a templates datastore.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 2, further comprising:

tagging the at least one of the critical task and the critical path based on a categorization scheme, and

wherein the storing comprises storing the project data as at least one of a task template and a project template based on the tagging of the at least one of the critical task and the critical path.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 4, further comprising grouping a plurality of at least one of task templates and project templates based on the tagging and a categorization scheme.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 5, further comprising identifying at least one of a standard task template and a standard project template based the grouping.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 2, further comprising publishing the plurality of the at least one of the task template and the project template for use in a marketplace of the multi-tenant environment.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 2, further comprising:

receiving user input data indicating a search request; and

generating results including at least one of the task template and the project template based on the search request.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein the receiving the user input data indicating the search request is via a marketplace user interface of the multi-tenant environment.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the receiving the user input data indicating project data is via a project management user interface of the multi-tenant environment.

11. A computer program product for managing a project in a multi-tenant server environment, comprising:

a tangible storage medium readable by a processing circuit and storing instructions for execution by the processing circuit for performing a method comprising;

receiving user input data indicating project data that includes at least one of project information, task information, and details information associated with the project;

associating tenant-specific metadata with the project data; and

storing the project data and the associated tenant-specific metadata in a project data datastore.

12. The computer program product of claim 11, wherein the method further comprises identifying at least one of a critical task and a critical path based on the project data, and wherein the storing comprises storing the project data as at least one of a task template and a project template based on the at least one of critical tasks and critical paths.

13. The computer program product of claim 12, wherein the method further comprises:

removing at least one of tenant-specific metadata and tenant-specific data from the at least one of the critical task and the critical path; and

in response to the removing, storing the at least one of the critical task and the critical path as the at least one of the task template and the project template in a templates datastore.

14. The computer program product of claim 12, wherein the method further comprises:

tagging the at least one of the critical task and the critical path based on a categorization scheme, and

wherein the storing comprises storing the project data as at least one of a task template and a project template based on the tagging of the at least one of critical tasks and critical paths.

15. The computer program product of claim 14, wherein the method further comprises grouping a plurality of at least one of task templates and project templates based on the tagging and a categorization scheme.

16. The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the method further comprises identifying at least one of a standard task template and a standard project template based the grouping.

17. The computer program product of claim 12, wherein the method further comprises publishing the plurality of the at least one of the task template and the project template for use in a marketplace of the multi-tenant environment.

18. The computer program product of claim 12, wherein the method further comprises:

receiving user input data indicating a search request; and

generating results including at least one of the task template and the project template based on the search request.

19. The computer program product of claim 18, wherein the receiving the user input data indicating the search request is via a marketplace user interface of the multi-tenant environment, and wherein the receiving the user input data indicating the project data is via a project management user interface of the multi-tenant environment.

20. A multi-tenant server system for managing a project in a multi-tenant server environment, comprising:

a database that stores multi-tenant data and multi-tenant metadata; and

a server system that receives user input data indicating project data that includes at least one of project information, task information, and details information associated with the project, that associates tenant-specific metadata of the multi-tenant metadata with the project data, and that stores the project data and the associated tenant-specific metadata in a project data datastore.
