Abstract

Systems and methods for providing hot spare nodes are disclosed. For example, one disclosed method for providing hot spare nodes comprises receiving an indication of a first quantity of unallocated nodes, the first quantity greater than or equal to one; receiving a command configured to create a hot spare pool and causing the first quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as a first quantity of configured nodes; and generating the hot spare pool, the hot spare pool comprising the first quantity of configured nodes.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving an indication of a first quantity of unallocated nodes, the first quantity greater than or equal to one;

receiving a command configured to create a hot spare pool and causing the first quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as a first quantity of configured nodes; and

generating the hot spare pool, the hot spare pool comprising the first quantity of configured nodes.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a request to create a new cloud instance, the request comprising an indication of a quantity of nodes and types of nodes for the new cloud instance;

selecting configured nodes from the hot spare pool, the selected configured nodes based on the quantity of nodes and the types of nodes for the new cloud instance; and

generating a new cloud instance comprising configuring the selected configured nodes as the new cloud instance.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the selected configured nodes comprises at least one each of an author node, a publisher node, and a dispatcher node.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving an identification of a cloud instance;

receiving a request for at least one configured node from the hot spare pool; and

transferring the at least one configured node from the hot spare pool to the cloud instance.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising causing a quantity of replacement nodes to be configured and added to the hot spare pool, the quantity of replacement nodes configured to replace the at least one configured node transferred to the cloud instance.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the first quantity of configured nodes comprises at least one of an author node, a publisher node, or a dispatcher node.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the first quantity of configured nodes comprises at least one each of an author node, a publisher node, or a dispatcher node.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving a second indication of a second quantity of unallocated nodes and a third indication of a third quantity of unallocated nodes, wherein the first quantity of unallocated nodes specifies a quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as author nodes, the second quantity of unallocated nodes specifies a quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as publisher nodes, and the third quantity specifies a quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as dispatcher nodes.

9. A computer-readable medium comprising program code, the program code configured to cause a processor to execute a method, the program code comprising:

program code for receiving an indication of a first quantity of unallocated nodes, the first quantity greater than or equal to one;

program code for receiving a command configured to create a hot spare pool and for causing the first quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as a first quantity of configured nodes; and

program code for generating the hot spare pool, the hot spare pool comprising the first quantity of configured nodes;

10. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, further comprising:

program code for receiving a request to create a new cloud instance, the request comprising an indication of a quantity of nodes and types of nodes for the new cloud instance;

program code for selecting configured nodes from the hot spare pool, the selected configured nodes based on the quantity of nodes and the types of nodes for the new cloud instance; and

program code for generating a new cloud instance comprising configuring the selected configured nodes as the new cloud instance.

11. The computer-readable medium of claim 10, wherein the selected configured nodes comprises at least one each of an author node, a publisher node, and a dispatcher node.

12. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, further comprising:

program code for receiving an identification of a cloud instance;

program code for receiving a request for at least one configured node from the hot spare pool; and

program code for transferring the at least one configured node from the hot spare pool to the cloud instance.

13. The computer-readable medium of claim 12, further comprising program code for causing a quantity of replacement nodes to be configured and added to the hot spare pool, the quantity of replacement nodes configured to replace the at least one configured node transferred to the cloud instance.

14. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, wherein the first quantity of configured nodes comprises at least one of an author node, a publisher node, or a dispatcher node.

15. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, wherein the first quantity of configured nodes comprises at least one each of an author node, a publisher node, or a dispatcher node.

16. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, further comprising program code for receiving a second indication of a second quantity of unallocated nodes and a third indication of a third quantity of unallocated nodes, wherein the first quantity of unallocated nodes specifies a quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as author nodes, the second quantity of unallocated nodes specifies a quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as publisher nodes, and the third quantity specifies a quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as dispatcher nodes.

17. A system comprising:

a computer-readable medium; and

a processor in communication with the computer-readable medium, the processor configured to;

receive an indication of a first quantity of unallocated nodes, the first quantity greater than or equal to one;

receive a command configured to create a hot spare pool and to cause the first quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as a first quantity of configured nodes; and

generate the hot spare pool, the hot spare pool comprising the first quantity of configured nodes.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the processor is further configured to:

receive a request to create a new cloud instance, the request comprising an indication of a quantity of nodes and types of nodes for the new cloud instance;

select configured nodes from the hot spare pool, the selected configured nodes based on the quantity of nodes and the types of nodes for the new cloud instance; and

generate a new cloud instance comprising configuring the selected configured nodes as the new cloud instance.

19. The system of claim 18, wherein the selected configured nodes comprises at least one each of an author node, a publisher node, and a dispatcher node.

20. The system of claim 17, wherein the processor is further configured to:

receive an identification of a cloud instance;

receive a request for at least one configured node from the hot spare pool; and

transfer the at least one configured node from the hot spare pool to the cloud instance.

21. The system of claim 20, wherein the processor is further configured to cause a quantity of replacement nodes to be configured and added to the hot spare pool, the quantity of replacement nodes configured to replace the at least one node transferred to the cloud instance.

22. The system of claim 17, wherein the first quantity of configured nodes comprises at least one of an author node, a publisher node, or a dispatcher node.

23. The system of claim 17, wherein the first quantity of configured nodes comprises at least one each of an author node, a publisher node, or a dispatcher node.

24. The system of claim 17, wherein the processor is further configured to receive a second indication of a second quantity of unallocated nodes and a third indication of a third quantity of unallocated nodes, wherein the first quantity of unallocated nodes specifies a quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as author nodes, the second quantity of unallocated nodes specifies a quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as publisher nodes, and the third quantity specifies a quantity of unallocated nodes to be configured as dispatcher nodes.
