Abstract

In one embodiment, a computing system includes a cache and a cache manager. The cache manager is able to receive data, write the data to a first portion of the cache, write the data to a second portion of the cache, and delete the data from the second portion of the cache when the data in the first portion of the cache is flushed.

Claims

1. A first computing device, comprising:

a first memory comprising a first portion of a cache; and

one or more processors,

wherein the one or more processors are operable to;

receive data;

write the data to the first portion of the cache; and

write the data to a second portion of the cache.

2. The device of claim 1, further comprising a first cache manager, the first cache manager operable to manage:

receiving data;

writing the data to the first portion of the cache; and

writing the data to the second portion of the cache.

3. The device of claim 1, wherein the second portion of the cache is in a second memory of the first computing device.

4. The device of claim 1, wherein the second portion of the cache is in a second memory of a second computing device, and wherein the second memory is chosen to reduce a chance of a cache failure.

5. The device of claim 1, wherein the device is communicatively linked to a metadata service.

6. The device of claim 1, wherein the device is communicatively linked to a configuration manager.

7. The device of claim 1, wherein the data is written to the second portion of the cache if the data written to the first portion of the cache has not been written to a data store communicatively linked to the cache.

8. One or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media embodying logic that is operable when executed to:

receive data at a first computing device;

write the data to a first portion of a cache, a first memory of the first computing device comprising a first portion of the cache; and

write the data to a second portion of the cache.

9. The media of claim 8, wherein the second portion of the cache is in a second memory of the first computing device.

10. The media of claim 8, wherein the second portion of the cache is in a second memory of a second computing device, and wherein the second memory is chosen to reduce a chance of a cache failure.

11. The media of claim 8, wherein the first computing device is communicatively linked to a metadata service.

12. The media of claim 8, wherein the first computing device is communicatively linked to a configuration manager.

13. The media of claim 8, wherein the data is written to the second portion of the cache if the data written to the first portion of the cache has not been written to a data store communicatively linked to the cache.

14. A computing system, comprising:

a cache; and

a cache manager,

wherein the cache manager is operable to;

receive data;

write the data to a first portion of the cache;

write the data to a second portion of the cache; and

delete the data from the second portion of the cache when the data in the first portion of the cache is flushed.

15. The computing system of claim 14, further comprising a second cache manager, the second cache manager operable to:

receive data;

write the data to the second portion of the cache; and

write the data to a third portion of the cache; and

delete the data from the third portion of the cache when the data in the second portion of the cache is flushed.

16. The computing system of claim 14, wherein the cache is operable in a write-back mode.

17. The computing system of claim 14, wherein the cache is operable in a write-through mode.

18. The computing system of claim 14, wherein the computing system is communicatively linked to a metadata service.

19. The computing system of claim 14, wherein the computing system is communicatively linked to a configuration manager.

20. The computing system of claim 14, wherein the data is written to the second portion of the cache if the data written to the first portion of the cache has not been flushed to a data store communicatively linked to the cache.
