Abstract

A method of providing content includes receiving emotional information in relation to the content; generating information about a representative type of emotion associated with the emotional information received from the client; updating an Electronic Program Guide associated with the content or a header of the content using the information about the representative type of emotion; and providing the content with the updated Electronic Program Guide or the updated header to the user.

8. A method of generating emotional information in relation to content in a client, the method comprising:

reproducing the content;

acquiring multiple images of a user while the content is reproduced;

extracting facial information from the user images; and

generating emotional information corresponding to the facial information.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the emotional information comprises information about a representative type of emotion representing the content.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the emotional information further comprises information about strength of the representative type of emotion.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein the emotional information comprises information about emotion representing a portion of the content.

12. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

transmitting the emotional information to a server which provides the content to the client.

13. A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium storing a computer program for performing a method of generating emotional information in relation to content, the method comprising:

reproducing the content;

acquiring multiple images of a user while the content is reproduced;

extracting facial information from the user images; and

generating emotional information corresponding to the facial information.

14. An apparatus for generating emotional information in relation to content, the apparatus comprising:

an image input unit configured to acquire multiple images of a user while the content is reproduced;

a controller configured to extract facial information from the user images and generate emotional information corresponding to the facial information; and

a storage configured to store the generated emotional information.

15. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein the emotional information comprises information about a representative type of emotion representing the content.

16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the emotional information further comprises information about strength of the representative type of emotion.

17. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein the emotional information comprises information about emotion representing a portion of the content.

18. The apparatus of claim 14, further comprising:

a communication unit configured to transmit the emotional information to a server which provides the content to the apparatus.

19. A system comprising:

a first client configured to acquire multiple images of a user while the content is reproduced, extract facial information from the user images and generate emotional information corresponding to the facial information; and

a server configured to receive the emotional information from the first client, generate information about a representative type of emotion associated with the emotional information received from the client, update metadata of the content using the information about the representative type of emotion, and provide the content with the updated metadata so that the content is reproduced based on the information about the representative type of emotion.

20. The system of claim 19, wherein the server provides the content with the updated metadata to a second client which requests the content.

21. The system of claim 19, wherein the updated metadata is stored in an Electronic Program Guide associated with the content.

22. The system of claim 19, wherein the updated metadata is stored in a header of the content.
