Abstract

In accordance with some embodiments, data may be collected from vehicles, and then reported to various subscribers with different levels of access privileges and pursuant different levels of security. In some embodiments, the data may be authenticated by a cloud service without revealing the identity of vehicle owner. This may provide enhanced privacy. At the same time, some types of the data may be encrypted for security and privacy reasons. Different information may be provided under different circumstances to different subscribers, such as the government, family members, location based services providers, etc.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

collecting sensor data from a vehicle based source;

authenticating the sensor data; and

reporting the collected and authenticated sensor data without identifying the vehicle based source.

2. The method of claim 1 including collecting the data using an apparatus with an embedded private key.

3. The method of claim 2 including authenticating the collected data using a public key.

4. The method of claim 1 including distributing sensor data to a plurality of subscribers.

5. The method of claim 4 including distributing different data to different subscribers.

6. The method of claim 4 including identifying data from each of at least two sensors and associating said data with a subscriber of said data.

7. The method of claim 6 including sending sensor data from a vehicle to a server for distribution to subscribers.

8. The method of claim 7 including preventing a subscribers from identifying a vehicle owner using privacy preserving public keys to verify data as coming from a pre-defined group of vehicles.

9. The method of claim 1 including proceeding an attestation with said data.

10. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions to enable a computer to:

collect sensor data from a vehicle based source;

authenticate the server data; and

report the collected and authenticated sensor data without identifying the vehicle based source.

11. The medium of claim 10 further storing instructions to collect the data using an apparatus with an embedded private key.

12. The medium of claim 11 further storing instructions to authenticate the collected data using a public key.

13. The medium of claim 10 further storing instructions to distribute sensor data to a plurality of subscribers.

14. The medium of claim 13 further storing instructions to distribute different data to different subscribers.

15. The medium of claim 13 further storing instructions to identify data from each of at least two sensors and associating said data with a subscriber of said data.

16. The medium of claim 15 further storing instructions to send sensor data from a vehicle to a server for distribution to subscribers.

17. The medium of claim 16 further storing instructions to prevent a subscribers from identifying a vehicle owner using privacy preserving public keys to verify data as coming from a pre-defined group of vehicles.

18. The medium of claim 11 further storing instructions to proceed an attestation with said data.

19. An apparatus comprising:

a device to collect and authenticate sensor data from a vehicle based source; and

report the collected and authenticated sensor data without identifying the vehicle based source; and

a private key embedded in said device.

20. The apparatus of claim 19, said device to authenticate the collected data using a public key.

21. The apparatus of claim 19, said device to distribute sensor data to a plurality of subscribers.

22. The apparatus of claim 21, said device to distribute different data to different subscribers.

23. The apparatus of claim 21, said device to identify data from each of at least two sensors and associating said data with a subscriber of said data.

24. The apparatus of claim 21, said device to send sensor data from a vehicle to a server for distribution to subscribers.

25. The apparatus of claim 24, said device to prevent a subscribers from identifying a vehicle owner using privacy preserving public keys to verify data as coming from a pre-defined group of vehicles.
